At this point I would revamp it into a manual deployable stationary gun

If this thing then only shoots if the player is actively using it while standing behind said gun, I guess this would be a compromise.

    @DuaneDibbley yes this way the target won't lose precious time choosing where to shoot at if the threat ends by nailing the operator
