i am pretty sure not even DICE could tell you anymore since the game seems to be universally disliked by the vast majority....

@X-Sunslayer-XThe tone of the game is such a mystery. How could they think that silly voiceovers and stupid animations in EOR-screens would appeal to the BF-crowd? The last Xbox-trailer (before launch) was the biggest joke ever.
Some people in Dice/EA are apparently very incompetent (like extremely incompetent).
Hopefully the change in management will improve things, but whether Dice/EA can save 2042 is another story...
The worst part is that EA still speaks about building "narrative in the BF universe", this will probably just lead to even more fails in the future.

We want gritty combined warfare, not 'deep stories'.You might do however the reddit sub was wetting itself over the Irish back story that followed on from BF4 or 3?
I personally had no idea about the back story because I never played the lame single player that used to ship with the game since BC2.
And I'm not sure what battlefield games you've played that were gritty?
All battlefield games have been over the top parodies of war with the possible exception of BF2.
You'd be better off watching war documentaries on YouTube if you enjoy gritty combined arms entertainment because battlefield has always been goofy.
But then again people actually take the voice lines seriously in past games when it was so obvious they were intentionally over the top.

There was no target demographic. The game was manufactured based on market trends of the time. The game feels as sterile as it is because it wasn't aimed at anyone. It is a game for no one in particular.
