The issue at hand here, if you think about it, may possibly be how the AI has proven itself incapable of performing it's expected services much of the time (if not 99% of the time).
If the AI cannot or will not repair then you will need a self healing tank, yes? Remember that there is a large portion of the game where the PvE people play which offers no squads or way to repair by yourself. They had to come up with something that works for both ways of playing at the same time. What they need to do is to fix all the AI issues, THEN they could remove the self healing thing.
Dunno why this AI issue exists in 2021 seeing as how back in 2003 with BF2 the bots would repair you pretty darn well much of the time.
Boris in particular should be able to repair faster or have a shorter cooldown/repair for longer.
No real point in trying to repair anything because turrets and Rangers (sorry, boy) are expendable, vehicles drive away when they don't notice you and you can't inform them you're repairing, and it barely works at all when you're a air passenger *shrug*
At least give one of the specialist (like Dipsy said) a passive trait or reward repairing with more ep then killing. Also, there's a new Gen of players (prob Gen Z) who dont know anything about team work. How many matches did i have where no one heals, no one picks up, no one repairs, no one gives ammo....but everyone is going Rambo...
Plenty of good ideas here yet a developer had 3 years to figure it out. Go figure....
