Some major adjustments to the NTW-50 is definitely needed

Hello.

After reading the recent blog post about upcoming updates, I got a little disappointed after reading what they plan to change to the NTW-50 sniper rifle.

Since they plan to reduce the damage against vehicles from the NTW-50, then they should up the range (1.5x of what it is now would be very good) and speed of it. I can throw a rock faster and farther than it can fire.

Currentiy I have to aim almost 20 times the zoomed-in scope height to hit someone only 300 meters away and that's definitely not good and should be changed. I have summarized some useful information below to adjust it and also not unbalance it.

The in-game description even says: "South African high-calibre anti-material rifle, designed for neutralizing engine blocks and gun emplacements. Able to destroy dreams at up to 1,500m."

It seems like the NTW-50 is inspired from the Denel NTW-20 weapon.

The Denel NTW-20 comes in three different variants according to Wikipedia. All three variants have different muzzle velocity and effective range.

20×82mm | Muzzle velocity 720 m/s (2,400 ft/s) | Effective range > 1,600 m (1,700 yd)
14.5×114mm | Muzzle velocity 1,000 m/s (3,300 ft/s) | Effective range > 2,400 m (2,600 yd)
20×110mm | Muzzle velocity 820 m/s (2,700 ft/s) | Effective range > 1,800 m (2,000 yd)

To average all that info we have above: Muzzle velocity 846 m/s (2 775.59055 ft/s) | 1933 m (2 113.95451 yd). To conclude: The range stat should definitely be upped to 85+. I don't think there's a specific stat for muzzle velocity in the game, but the developers can probably very easily change that behind the scenes.

To the people that might think that this might unbalance the weapon, perhaps extending the animation for reloading and chambering a new bullet could fix that. To counter unbalancing it even more, maybe it could sway a decent amount when aiming down sight, so that you must hold your breath to take an accurate shot.

@Daniel--Swenson I think the NTW-50 definitely needed to be nerfed against tanks. Tanks are big and slow and they're super easy to hit. It was extremely annoying to be taking constant chip damage and almost impossible to identify where it was coming from. However, I think the damage to all other vehicles was fine. The heli's and the other light armor land vehicles are fast enough to avoid the constant landing of shots

@Daniel--SwensonSo they are well on their way to make this too a weapon that fails to do its primary purpose when all they needed to do was to make it less damaging to the most heavily armored vehicles.
I would rather not there to be a repeat of the damn AT rifles of BFV where they are just doing that minimal damage that only serves to annoy someone

@cng82 I am mainly talking about the range and muzzle velocity in my post.
We'll see with how much they will lower the damage to vehicles. Maybe it isn't a big change.

@Daniel--Swenson totally agree after using it for a bit usually not playing sniper but found it satisfying sound wise to shoot lol, but anyone can easily test out the velocity and broken range and sights compared to what it is supposed to be hopefully they are aware of it, the other snipers are highly better

The new update is launching tomorrow which lowers the damage against vehicles of the NTW-50 weapon. My suggestion to increase the range and muzzle velocity is very important to implement as soon as possible if they want people to still use the weapon.

I have been using this weapon most of the game. Not really on vehicles but people. I find it completely useles. the slow firing velocity is a joke. Unless i get a head shot it never kills anyone, and even head shots dont kill most of the time. I can hit someone 300m away and then get nailed by the same guy with an assault rife. having actually fired one of these weapons in real life it rips the * out of anything you hit. i mean it destroys at 1000m. it would rip your chest apart. I dont mind balance in a game but to hit an enemy then be shot by the same bloke with a lesser weapon at distance is ridiculous.

Shooting this weapon reminds me of a paintball gun in regards to bullet speed. Seriously it's so slow that it's cartoonish. I'm glad that I decided to T1 it before the nerf. The best way to get kills with it would be looking for vehicles on fire. Boom, kill shot. Another effective way to use it was shooting at the vehicles camping from afar that was bombarding the objectives. I'm sure 99% of the ones crying about nerf the NTW-50 was those people.

I personally don’t think the NTW-50 needed a vehicle damage nerf. I totally think they should adjust the multiplier on heavy armor like tanks and MAVs. But against jeeps, air vehicles, hovercrafts, and the MENACE that is the M5C Bolte…the damage was fine. Those vehicles are nimble so you should be rewarded for the shots AND the drivers are more than capable of getting away. I think 15-20 dmg isn’t terrible on tanks, MAVs, and heavy vehicles. I think 25 should be the dmg for light vehicles, air vehicles (because hitting them is a challenge), and Boltes (unless the nerf those so there aren’t as many on the battlefield). I liked the anti-material sniper role the NTW provided but now it just feels weak.

I did some testing in the game with the three snipers. I used the 4x scope on all of them and shot at the same target. Here are the results.

As you can see in the videos, the muzzle velocity and range of the NTW-50 is laughably bad. It must be changed, because this is unacceptable. It takes several extra seconds for the bullet from NTW-50 to reach the target.
In real life a .50 cal sniper rifle can rip limbs off of people and even rip someone's chest apart, like 4Wok7 mentioned.
Please fix this DICE/EA. I beg you.
