I'm pretty sure Microsoft stated they were doing this also!
New Xbox Policy To Block Unauthorised Accessories | Pure Xbox
"Microsoft and other licensed Xbox hardware partners' accessories are designed and manufactured with quality standards for performance, security, and safety. Unauthorized accessories can compromise the gaming experience on Xbox consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.) Players may receive a pop-up warning that their accessory is unauthorized. Eventually, the unauthorized accessory will be blocked from use to preserve the console gaming experience. For a full list of accessories that are supported on Xbox consoles, please visit www.xbox.com/accessories, our support pages here and here, and our Designed for Xbox Partner Hardware Program page here."

Microsoft and Sony needs to block TVs and gaming monitors with built-in AI cheats too.

PS5 requires all peripherals to have an authentication/security key. This was true at launch as it is today. This was effective at blocking Cronus initially.
Cronus eventually found a work around by cloning a security key from a legit controller and applying that cloned key to all of their devices.
The recent update essentially just banned that specific security key (and other known cloned keys).
At least that's what I gathered from reading through the drama on the Cronus sub-reddits. I suspect the story won't end here.
I'd like to see DICE/EA develop a software based detection method as well. I think Ubisoft rolled their software based solution 'mousetrap' a few months back. Hopefully that puts pressure on EA/DICE to follow.

@sk1lld That’s sweet. PC needs to do the same thing to prevents its use, as well as EA Anti-Cheat needs to be further developed. Some kind of policy statement from EA and Dice would be welcomed.@ATFGunr I'm not tracking here, PC users don't use Cronus as MKB (the reason to use cronus on console) is our main input method. I've read that recently the exploit to have aim assist with MKB by having a controller simultaneously connected was also fixed so there should be nothing to prevent for PC.

ATFGunr was just celebrating the fact that a cheating method got nerfed on console.
And because we have crossplay in this game, he will encounter less cheaters as a PC player. Good for everyone.

It’s interesting because when I played BF2042 via the Xbox One app earlier tonight, none of the usual top of the board PS players were playing.
It could be a coincidence though.
But it sure makes me think!

Geez I’m not sure if I should say, but Cronus and those kinds of devices can apparently work on a PC as well. If you play on PC with a controller anyways from what I’ve read. Then you can use all the BS it has like recoil reduction, etc. Its only real purpose is to cheat, so I’m glad that at least for now, it’s limited. Realistically it has to be eliminated for any purpose, what kind of company would make such a device and take pride in the fact they help people cheat. Game manufacturers should sue them, and drive them out of business.
