Although the news stories don’t say of it was intentional, I’m pleased to hear today that a recent PlayStation update prevents peripherals such as Cronus from working. Other games have taken steps to prevent its use, something Dice has yet to do. I’m hoping it was intentional on the part of Sony, and that XBox is soon to follow. It’s against the Microsoft EULA to use the devices, however if someone is going to cheat I doubt the EULA stops them doing it. So cheers to Sony and a sincere belief that any kind of cheating needs to be eliminated. It’s too bad they don’t make a device that only allows M&K to be used on consoles, but does not include the other options.

Microsoft and Sony needs to block TVs and gaming monitors with built-in AI cheats too.

I don’t believe that the main reason devices like these are so popular is because so many people want to play MnK on console.It’s a bit like in the past when people said they bought Playboy magazine just for reading the articles. 😏I welcome the ban of these! One of the main reasons for me to go from PC to console at the time was the leveled playing field. A closed ecosystem giving hackers no chance, and everybody using mostly the same hardware. Unfortunately this has changed with the arrival of 3rd party and elite controllers, and it has gotten out of hand with cheating devices like Cronus. So if we can revert that a bit temporarily, hoorah!As said before I’ve got no illusion that we got rid of it completely. The company selling these things will work to get their product working again.

I made a similar thread on this topic Yesterday but that was closed as it was deemed baiting. I was just happy to see finally something being done against unfair play, intentionally or not.What struck me most was I was playing Yesterday as normal on PS5 servers with crossplay off. To me it seemed there were a lot less players than normal. Typically I have no trouble finding a full server on Redacted Conquest but Yesterday I played several matches with lobbies almost half full of AI Bots. At the moment I did not know about this issue. I have had the PS update myself on 24th Jan, but I only learned Yesterday evening about the impact of this update to 3rd party input devices. Coincidence or not, I could not see the empty servers earlier that day being disconnected from this.Despite I'm happy now, I fear that the companies behind these devices won't sit still and accept their products and business becoming obsolete. I think it'll be only a matter of time for them to find another way in. Just as gaming became big business so did the cheating industry unfortunately.

Realistically Dice should add legit M&K to 2042 for those console players that want to play that way.@JOGAGATYA, your wording made it seem like I was glad that consoles were being restricted and PC was not, which is not my intent at all. I appreciate that may not have been what you meant, I want to stress that cheating of any kind, by any system, is not acceptable. We are all gamers who just want to play and none of us deserve to get railed by cheaters whether on PC or console.

Playstation itself already supports MnK so good that they ban these devices. Indeed Dice should add proper MnK support for their game too. Then there will be no more need for Cronus and the likes, but I doubt that many of its users will give up on it.

Yeah, I know that's correct. Basically anything is traceable. That's where reporting comes in just keep reporting, taking the players name down yourself and see if he/she is still playing in a couple days.

I read an informative article before that said Microsoft makes money off the cheating devices. That's why they drag their feet in doing anything about it. So, they don't want to lose customers. Instead they will just do small patches here and there and stop the low level cheaters and not go after the bigger fishes.

Yes i totally agree. Anybody who is cheating in games is a pathetic shallow person. Doesn't matter which platform the cheater uses. What i said originally is that they got rid of some console cheaters and that is good news for both console and PC players because we all play against each other. It's a win for everyone and you seemed happy for this anti cheat win. I am happy too.

I don't get it: how is it easier to catch a cheater in 'FIFA' than in 'BF'...?...!
How is it possible to even cheat in an online footbal match?!... I mean, where's the low recoil, wallhack/ESP equivalents, etc...? It truly boggles the mind how far illegitimate gaming can go.
