@ragnarok013Yea I agree. I'm really not a fan of it at all. I guess I ment innovating Battlefield more than innovating something 100% new and unique.
It's just from a business perspective I >understand< why it's being done. This is where the money is at. Dice has to find a way to keep selling stuff in game that doesn't divide the player base.
I mean we are all kinda sure the monetization of this game will be done around the specialists right? Either by unlocking them quicker than those having to grind or something similar. Or has it been stated that it's only going to be cosmetic?
@FawKa after BF5 with all of its "good ideas" I'm deathly afraid that excessive monetization and trend chasing will make this game fail too and jeopardize the franchise. IMO BF5 failed because it deviated from the traditional Battlefield formula too much and 2042 is doing that even more instead of correcting course. I hoped DICE tried to figure out why BF4 is still going strong after 8 years but instead of doing that they invoked the nostalgia from BF3/4 visually in the trailers and then gave us Specialists and ping spotting again.
@ragnarok013Bfv failed beacuse they listened to the very same ppl that are bashing 2042, including yourself. I rememeber some of your comments aswell. Seems like dice knows this too, as they were pretty selective with those surveys.
- 4 years ago@GLOCK_IN_DA_SOCK That is nuts dude. Me personally, I know I bashed BFV period, as well as I’m bashing BF2042. On its face that’s a ludicrous statement. BFV was crap, and BF2042 with each trickle of information, is shaping up to be a dumpster heap.

Main reasons BFV sold 50% of BF1 opening sales.
The reveal trailer.
Everyone thought they were getting a revamped BF1942 with state of the art graphics / CPUs etc. What they got instead was some zany fortnite like characters dropped into a battlefield trailer.
Massive backlash ensued, which went nuclear when a top Dice employee told people don't buy the game if you don't like it! Lol, that guy 'retired' soon after.
Then the game released with no famous WWII themed maps and apparently inauthentic uniforms.
As for the game.
Dice listened way too much to the highly vocal hardcore redditors and were actively engaging with them on reddit talking about how BFV was going in a more hardcore direction.
They called it attrition.
The TTK was dramatically decreased and 3D spotting was removed.
End result, players were dying quickly to enemies that they couldn't see.
And if they weren't dying they were running out of bullets due to attrition while running around with low health because self heal was removed.
There were other reasons but in my humble opinion that is why BFV failed to meet EA sales targets and is now considered a flop.
Personally I really enjoyed it.

- UP_Hawxxeye4 years agoLegend@zakrocz You also forgot about the BFV gameplay loop of being downed, having to wait for someone who might actually care to revive, who might either succeed or also die because you cannot move out of a bad spot. Then if you try to respawn to some ally who really needs some help, you might either be refused the spawn outright or get blasted back to the spawn screen after spawning, like they say in that video.

Yep, BFV failed because of the Community and not because of Dice. Sounds totally legit, see you on the BF, when i will be getting killed by a ww2-stealth-tank, because it is so Hard to fix the Sound Bugs.

@GLOCK_IN_DA_SOCK It's not hard to remember some of my comments as I left 8 pages, single spaced of them in the Beta feedback section and it was one of the highest upvoted threads in the Beta forum. I understand what the Community generally likes after so many years moderating the Battlefield forums and hosting FridayNightBattlfield and I was one of the harshest critics of BF5 when I participated in the Alpha. Many like myself are also leveling the same criticism on 2042 so no we are not the same people DICE listened to in BF5; DICE is listening to the same people in 2042 as they did in BF5.

@ragnarok013I remember quite well your post, and the comments under it. (That's what I was referring too) they literally took several of your suggestions(I'm sure they were from several sources but were included in your feedback) and copy pasted them into the game in late Nov early Dec, then you turned around and panned them for doing so. This is what I'm talking about. It's dammed if you do and dammed if you dont. That's why portal is a thing. So the negative nacys can make bf their own way. I'll see you on 2042, cuz we all know yall are gunna end up buying it anyways. Then in a couple of years you can come on here and state your disdain for the new title, and how it's not like 2042 like you've done for every title since bf4.

@GLOCK_IN_DA_SOCK my 8 page feedback was reference 2042's beta. I've never condemned DICE for bringing in anything I've suggested in BF5. The main feedback that they incorporated into BF5 that I praised them for - not condemned, was ammo/medic crate AOE, a more authentic look for 5.0, and authentic cosmetics late in the game. I repeatedly condemned them for the multiple TTK changes because BF5 TTK was one of the few highly praised things in BF5 yet they kept forcing them on an unwanting player base. I condemned DICE most vociferously for 5.2 and, while I was happy they walked 5.2 back, they still didn't completely revert their 5.2 with their walk back which I raised as a big issue for obvious reasons since it didn't need to be changed due to the player base like 5.0's TTK almost universally with only a few "negative Nancies" as you say. I'm curious as to what feedback apart from the 5.2 stuff I just mentioned you think I condemned them for incorporating that I suggested since you seem to have read my posts with great interest back then.
Regarding your snark about my future disdain for new titles I didn't like Battlefield 1 or V so I'm definitely not lamenting that 2042 is not like BF1 or BF5 - in fact I'm quite happy that 2042 is some ways is much closer to BF4 than the last two (which is why in my feedback the first thing I said was I enjoyed the beta) and nothing like BF1/5 in many more ways. My main issue with 2042 is Specialists and no weapon restrictions, with an additional albeit very small objection to the movement and gun play. Live Service is also a bane to modern gaming but one we're not likely to see the end of until something much more sinister develops gaming - you gotta know which hills to die on so I don't beat that drum.
