Sound Engine needs rework

Everyone, even folks that didnt like Battlefield would always give the game credit for Its sound and the wide soundstage It carries. Coming from beta and seeing the trailers, the sound Is super flat and boring, nothing gets highlighted and not dynamic in any way,

Is the reason because you have like 5 different studios involved in the game, and that DICE aint responsible for sound engine? Its really bad and doubt thats a beta issue.

  • @999Impreza Yeah the sound was very muddy in the beta, but I have high hopes for the release that it will be on par with previous releases.
  • Good point @999Impreza ,

And it was also one of the bugs/functions that we reported on to EA Dev team during the beta gameplay.

I think we had one response along the lines of the full resolution sound mappings were not in the beta but would be in final launch.  Their standard answer.

As you could notice that many weapon and vehicle sounds were often entirely missing.  So you could have tanks passing by nearby or a heli overhead, friendlies on full auto, and still you often had near full silence where you stood with your soldier.

Now again, if EA had cared to keep our full Beta reporting section readable/accessible still till launch of the game, it would have been very helpful to us all.  But in classic Soviet Union style, all is censored and run behind an iron curtain with no access anymore for us ordinary citizens...

Because that would also have enabled us to keep track of their fixing, as promised, of all the bugs and missing functions that we reported on in the beta.

  • @999Impreza Sound for me was good until BF5 and now 2042 sounds muffled just like BF5 when I played the Beta so the sound issues probably came forward from 5 instead of being a result of 5 studios working on the game.
  • Could've been just placeholder sounds for certain things. Probably just a beta thing.

Im replying to this because i noticed in a lot of the trailers and the beta, the gun sounds are muffled and do not match the environment your in really. That becomes esp clear after i played some BF3 last night which still has insane sound. The guns still sound great.

I guess we cant have it all....

    Agreed @Buzzfunk ,

Also what I personally experienced playing the beta on PS5.

As the FPS also was questionable a lot of the time and aka helis in the sky did teleportations all the time and soldiers rubberbanding all over the place, I put it all down to the servers simply not yet up for the data load they had to push through also to give a fluid soundtrack with real-time effects etc.  The sounds are not typically among the first things the tech team are optimizing before game launch, so expect we will still see a much more fluid gameplay and sound scheme when we get to the launch.

  • @999Impreza  Yet another audio thread I agree with.  Given the lead audio guy responsible for BFV's stunning soundscape just announced he quit, I am not too hopeful of much improvement for BF2042.  But one person does not make a team, so let's see...
