First of all: I'm fan of the ladies 🥳. I like my girl and everything she does, but do I really have to play with a female figure if I like that specialist and it's gadgets? @EADice Or do come the specialists in a male and female character? I thought there was some psychology behind specialist and heroes, where the player could place himself in that character...but I don't feel like a lady 😳 What are your thoughts about this?

I do not really see this as an issue and thus, I do not really have a strong opinion about it.However, I doubt that is going to happen at this point in development...

@carsono311 No I don't have the impression this is an all or nothing situation.

Solving the issue by allowing faction based customizable characters who choose an specialization would release so much pressure.
Then it would be possible to address balance issues between the specializations.

@kregoraI appreciate you saying that, but I disagree that your provided solution would help.

I have made many posts on this forum outlining how I do not believe Specialists are that much different from the Class System. The chief concerns I keep hearing about Specialists are about visibility (which I hold is a separate issue) and balancing.

The visibility can be fixed relatively quickly and easily with a variety of different solutions.

The balancing issue is a potentially bigger and more difficult to "solve". I am reserving judgement till I actually see and feel the full game, but I will agree with many others that constraining certain weapons / skills / gadgets to certain classes would make the overall job easier to some degree.

So I do not see much middle ground in that viewpoint... I am happy to be wrong on this or all of it, but I just don't know yet.

@TrasteTh you will know about Metas if you buy 2042. I do not really consider myself sweaty but when I am getting owned over and over by 1 or 2 builds, then to counter it is to also play that build. Thats why some games feel like a chore.

@carsono311 For my Specialist is the combination of a single character model with a specialization. And a specialization is the special gadget and perk.
e.g. Falk is a Combat Medic. The Combat Medic has a S21 Syrette Pistol and the Combat Surgeon trait.

Provide an US and a Russia customizable Support Class character model, pair that one with the Combat Medic specialization, and all the discussions about IFF and gender become mute.

@kregora So the "gadget and perk" are unique to the one Specialist and each side gets a unique character model? Do I have that right?

According to Freeman, Emma Sundance is non-binary.
I had to lookup what non-binary means. It basically means someone who identifies as neither male nor female, or even as a mixture of both sexes.
I could be wrong. I'm still learning what this stuff means.
Emma's my favorite specialist. Flying around indoors with a wingsuit is loco!
Referring to Emma as 'them' instead of 'her' seems strange to me though. I've heard these gender neutral words are popular in Swedish culture though.

@carsono311 Or even two, a male and a female version. But yes, that is what I mean. That will only calm the discussions about the current design for the specialists with name, gender and outlook.
The specialization discussion is something different.

@gruntbrews_vicv Darkest days was how ridiculous it was people getting upset over that. Then gave Dice grief when they defended themselves. Disgusting behavior from the community.

Who cares about gender anymore in games. Literally every game with hero elements has a pretty mixed roster.

As a gamer my only concern is how big is their hit box? Other than that, I don’t care.
