I also think that would be a problem for the class mechanic. I kind of don't understand in the first place, why they went with specific operators and not just let you equip the unique tools yourself. If the players appearance is oddly specific because of the operator and everyone plays the same 10 operators, we could find ourself in very weird situations. It seems like they mixed some apex and rainbow6 into the game, I will never really understand, why since battlefield 1 they try to implement mechanics from other popular games. Just let battlefield be battlefield and use the peak customisation of battlefield 4.
- 5 years ago@raffifasaro I assume some players want to roleplay a certain personality and also customize it, but I think the realistic aspects of Battlefield conflicts with these fixed personality oriented roleplaying features because it breaks immersion in a game like Battlefield and it becomes much more fictional and cartoonish almost. So on one side you want to develop a realistic game with a plausible backstory, but you also have characters that are vulnerable to be replicas of eachother on a personality level. Visually identical characters isn't a problem, but characters with idential personality is. If they want to keep the personality choice as a roleplaying feature, they should make it more of a customizable thing with large variety in voicelines, visuals and so on within that type of personality instead of limiting it to a certain person with first name and surname.
So within a class you should have a lot of choices, but limited to that class so its still identifiable as that certain class.
The weapons are available to any class, but the classes should have distinct perks so that there is a element of strategy with player choices. It makes the game more interesting when you have to think about your choices. I think the general rule of roleplaying in games should be freedom of choice where the strength in identity through choice is given to the player rather than fixed to the games characters. - Thursdayz_Child4 years agoRising Rookie
BF4 but on a new engine with modern gunplay. Literally could have stopped there and satisfied 95 percent of the player base
