Specialists behind Battle Pass paywall?

Hi everyone!

I don't care about cosmetics, so I am leaning towards buying the Standard Edition if I like the beta. But what confuses me is that it seems that only buying the Gold and/or Ultimate Editions will give me access to the 4 Specialists planned for year 1! Is my assumption correct here?

I mean, as far as I gather all 'meaningful' content such as maps and weapons will be free for all, but the Battle Pass system provides you with cosmetics AND the 4 Specialists. If that is the case then as all Specialists come with their own gadgets and traits, isn't this a cause for concern?

I am not a fan of the Battle Pass system as I find it to be a predatory and money-wringing practice in a full priced title - but well, that is where the gaming industry seems to have moved to as gamers are willing to shell out money for fancy cosmetics. But that's beside the point here I guess...

    Hello @l-NwL-l-DK

    All new Specialists will be Free for all Players. Same goes for new Maps, Weapons, Vehicles when it comes to BF2042. 🙂

    Only Cosmetic Items (from Battle Pass) like skins for those Specialists will be for those who bought Battle Pass or own Battle Pass from Gold/Ultimate Edition of BF2042

    Same here. Gold or ultimate is a waste of money. I can always buy battlepasses if it turns out to be neat. 
    Not going to preorder. Early access is also irrelevant when I probably get to play +500 hours.

    @l-NwL-l-DKJust for clarity… they will be freely accessible.

    They might still be required to bought with in-game currency or earned through some associated mission or task… it is not entirely clear how those features will be included, despite being “free”…
