It seems to me to be just a way to specialize the standard classes.
Did you play Battlefield 2142?
Battlefield 2142 had 4 classes, but two different trees of specializations for each class with a variety of highly useful items.
Besides, what shooter have you played where some broken gun or perk is NOT spammed? lol!!! That's basically par for the course. Something will likely emerge, but we'll see how quickly DICE is to react to it.
- 4 years ago@eqoswiftzzz Same, i prefer that people look the same because of their uniforms, not because they are specific characters. Kinda ruins the whole, im just a "normal soldier in this battlefield"

yeah, I'd much rather see common uniforms than gimmicky looking specialists. The differences in classes on 3 and 4 were enough that you could tell them apart, but subtle enough to make them all look as though they belonged together. Not sure how well this is going to play out, but I much prefer the more realistic approach in regards to uniforms. Hopefull we'll get a better look before too long, and hopefully there will be options for camo patterns as they were in 4.
Still hyped though...
- 4 years ago@eqoswiftzzz Thing is they'll have counters to all this stuff in other classes. So they will have EMP devices or something else that will be good at taking out turrets.
Battlefield 2 Special Forces expansion added grappling hooks and zip lines. Grappling hooks were on the Assault class and zip lines were on the Spec Ops class as I recall. Its just a way to get up to windows or other places...nothing special that's OP or anything. It was standard class equipment.
Basically lets you do what people already do in BF4 with choppers and spawn beacons....get to higher elevations.- 4 years ago
@ArchAngeL-PCXyeah but why change the old system in bf4 that works perfectly. why do we need to have characters. why cant we just be us in a uniform like the other bf's. i dont like it and it seems im not alone but each to their own i guess. Ill have to wait and see it in more detail but i haven't got high hopes for that sort of gameplay.

@eqoswiftzzzI agree. If I have to play Maria Falck or some other character (instead of making my own) I won't bother buying 2042. I don't like to play characters twenty other people are playing. I don't play the elites in BF5 for the same reason.
- 4 years ago@eqoswiftzzz Characters can be customized completely.

I'm a bit concerned about the gimmicky hooks too. I hope they haven't went too overboard with these specialist abilities...
- 4 years ago@eqoswiftzzz I find it weird how Battlefield 3,4 and 1 all had 4 character models per side with always 1 meta character and 10 different highly customizable characters is now a problem.

Because of Battelefield V.
BFV sets the bar in customizability pretty high. Different choices in ethnicity and gender, combined with different uniforms and camo patterns.
BF4 had 12 different character models one for each faction and class, which made it possible to just look at a character and see if it friend or foe.
When we now have many Caspars that look like every other Caspar we may have issues to discern between friend and foe, just because they have the same silhouette.
- 4 years ago@OPR_Chroma You've just hit the nail on the head. So many people are resistant to change that they just lash out with blind hate.

Also those soldiers were just some random Models, which fit perfectly in the war. They had no personality, they had no Background, they were just soldiers.
Now we have a some german doctor looking for her son dying multiple times a game. I dont want to know her Name, i dont want to know her Story. Especially if it is some absolutely unnecessary and expandable, like we say in Germany '0815'-story. Hope some might get that reference.
If there was at least a Single Player, where you could actually get connected to those soldiers, it Would be better. But planned like this, those names, Stories and characters are just an unnecessary Feature. Just Stick to the system from BFV, it was one of the best Things about this Game, except of the Clown Skins, but that is a different Problem.
- 4 years ago@TickTack121 BFV Elites are similar to Specialist however they now have evolved to now have class and customization.
Your complain about marketing backstory, wow it has no impact on MP. The Elites had backstory in BFV did that impact MP? And the soldiers in the SP had no connection to MP.
Then you missed the point about the character names, what is their Official Combat Role Title for Maria?
BFV I bet many people used the same customization across multiple classes. People also wanted customization of elite.
