I am also comparing it to its BF4 version.
This BF2042 version has a significantly larger delay before the missile starts traveling normally after it leaves the launcher, it seems to fire like a javelin without being a javelin.
The SRAW of BF4 was already a worse than the Liz TGS missile without the Javeling-like delay and the slow reload time of the BF2042 version.
Edit: I checked some videos about it and as someone pointed out at their video, the SRAW's FoV is way too small for the quick adjustments one needs to do when guiding it towards anything that moves remotely fast.
The SRAW will take out a nightbird in one hit if it manages to hit it. But I believe that if a helicopter pilot manages to get hit by a SRAW then they have been hovering exactly at the same spot for too long or have been flying in an almost straight line towards you.
The Lis missile's power came mostly from too many people using it near the launch when she was brand new. Soon after when they got bored of her, she became a lot less used.
After that it got its duration and range buffed to match the range of those huge maps. Then it got some of that ranged nerfed along with its turn radius because they did not wanted the missile of have a chance to hit a second time after missing,
But the Lis missile was better than the SRAW even at its worst.
I suspect the firing delay is to give pilots enough warning by lighting up their HUD like a Christmas tree, so they can duck behind cover. Similar to the Javelin. The lock on time for that thing is so long, it's quicker to run over to the tank and point at it....
From what I've seen of the SRAW, it's controls are even worse than the over-nerfed Lis missile. Faster to turn an oil tanker than steer a Lis missile....
- ATFGunr2 years agoLegend@MADMAC50K It won’t turn quickly, it’s a slow meandering kind of thing. I’m working on T3ing it right now so have fired it a fair bit by now. There is very little hope of hitting a Nightbird, even less than hitting a pondhawk. The crosshair blocks your vision so smaller targets are really hard to hit. Close range or snap shots are also extremely difficult. The missle also drops a bit on launch before the rocket kicks in, so you have to be standing, definitely don’t launch from behind cover 🤣🤣
