Steam Offering Refunds
So it appears that Steam have decided to offer refunds for 2042 owners who have passed the 2 hour playtime cutoff, so now's your chance to recoup your cash from this blackhole. It's going to be i...
I would like to point out that my original post I says "it APPEARS Steam are giving refunds"
Here's one source https://www.newsweek.com/battlefield-2042-steam-refund-policy-player-count-1667922#:~:text=The%20launch%20of%20Battlefield%202042,out%20back%20in%20October%202021.
Here's another https://www.dexerto.com/battlefield/steam-issues-refunds-for-battlefield-2042-as-player-count-plummets-1736916/
Here's another https://charlieintel.com/steam-giving-battlefield-2042-refunds-as-players-claim-the-game-as-broken/156056/
These were all easy to find with Google, in case you're struggling to find a source for something in the future.
You're right though it could be a case by case basis. But even if it is what is the harm of me posting it to inform people that there's a chance, however slim, to get their money back?

In addition to your choice of headline and instead of linking the article and only to attach a screenshot of the upper part of the article, imho the "it appears" does not really matter even if you saying that this is only you speculating with the last part.
So, for me this implies that Steam is going to refund the game to every one who want to but they don’t.
Also, I have read these articles before you have now linked them here and all are referring to one post of a redit user. Yeah, that’s a proof of concept.
And what harm can this thread or these articles do? You ask that? How many will now go and try it again and again to get a refund but will fail on Steam, what do you think who they will blame?
Not Steam they will blame EA/DICE for it but guess what these issues than is created buy such threads, news article and videos of content creators.
And with “Regardless, it is another nail in the coffin of 2042.” you clearly show that you do not like the game and that this thread only continues to fuelling the fire.
Be nice, play fair and see you on the Battlefield
I've been on the periphery with this one as I'm not a Steam user but, from what I gather, this isn't a blanket policy from them. Some people will be able to get a refund outside of the general policy, like if they're having massive technical issues or it's their 'freebee', but it'd be the exception rather than the norm.
There's lots of posts on the 2042 Steam forums about this topic right now and the majority of people seem to be reporting getting declined still.
@RipGroove99 Possibly but I could still see Origin sticking to policy. My thinking is that it could send a message out to everyone that there's no hope or interest in the game from EA, and the plug is getting pulled. Then again I might be going overboard a little bit.

"So, for me this implies that Steam is going to refund the game to every one who want to but they don’t." Just because that's the way YOU read it doesn't make it true it just makes it your (incorrect) interpretation.
I'm not responsible for the actions of others. If people try to get a refund because of this thread and they don't get one that's not on me. If they choose to blame EA/Dice that's not on me either, you know why? Because everyone is responsible for their own actions.
You're right I don't like the game I even got my refund and as this is a public forum I'm allowed to post anything that doesn't contravene the rules. If I wanted to "fuel the fire" I'd post a whole lot more than someone getting a Steam refund.
Just a newsflash for you, people are allowed to post their views even if they are *shock* *horror* not positive about the game. They are even allowed to post them over and over again as long as they don't contravene the forum rules. You like the game and post what I consider to be utter drivel but regardless of my views on your posts I wouldn't want you to not post your views. Why? You're entitled to them and I'm not really into the idea of suppressing other peoples opinions or views, especially with the aim of protecting a multi billion dollar company.
You're little sign off is cute but what's really funny/ironic/hypocritical about it is that it's always posted in such a passive aggressive manner.
Anyways have a good day and I've got my fingers crossed that you get the Hero role you're desperately angling for.

Seems to me that I'm not alone in this thread the way I’m reading it…
I have not written anywhere that you are not allowed to express your opinion you can do it in the way you want but guess what I can answer in my way here if I stick to the rules of EA/DICE for this forum 😉
Interesting is also that is for some here is ok to spread hatred/toxicity here if they do not like a game but when people like the game their opinion it is "utter drivel"?
Maybe I help you here you forgot to add EA/DICE defender or future EA/DICE employee in your sentence 😉
You like my post-closing “Be nice, play fair and see you on the Battlefield”, it is interesting that always the same type of people here needs to comment about it.
“desperately angling“ ? This makes me laugh hard mate., these posts are my opinion, you like it or you like it not.
Also I think I'm not on the radar of EA/DICE here, I'm only are small average forum user.
Be nice, play fair and see you on the Battlefield

Did you actually read my post? Is it reading comprehension you lack?
Point out where I state that hatred/toxicity is fine to spread? I won't bother waiting because you'll unable to do so. I don't condone either of these things. You are equating me saying "people are allowed to post their views even if they are not positive" with me advocating for hatred and toxicity. You're so desperate to be able to label every opinion you don't agree with as toxic that you're making stuff up to do so.
It's not that "when people like the game their opinion it is "utter drivel" you're entitled to like the game in fact I'm glad some people do tbh because at least some tiny crumb of positivity came out of this multi-million dollar fiasco, other than mass disillusionment, resentment and the very possible death of one of the most loved franchises in gaming. It's that I find you're reasoning as to why the game is good to be utter drivel, again though for the hard of thinking, that doesn't mean I think you shouldn't post your utter drivel it just means in my opinion that's what it is.
"I'm only are small average forum user." then why are you so often attempting to police other people's posts and the tone/content of them? You accuse posters of "Fueling the fire" well we didn't start it (great song btw) so instead of getting angry at people looking for answers or refunds maybe you should turn your attention to those responsible for the fire and ask what are they going to do to start tackling the blaze that they ignited and have failed to even start dousing yet.
@k1u73 didn't we already determine Putin was behind it?
@CountSeroYou are only digging yourself a bigger grave and I suggest you stop trying to defend the scammers that are those currently working for EA and DICE. They won't reward you for it.
I say that because the good people got out while they still could. Would love for EA to prove me wrong but they never will unless they GIVE EVERYONE REFUNDS regardless of the platform we got the game on and how much we tried to play it.
I tried to defend them before the game released and you can see how they "rewarded" me for it by breaking every single promise about how they were "building off of what made the previous games great" when the reality is that they went in the opposite direction this whole time.
I truly wanted this game to be great... But the sad truth is that it isn't. And unless they really start listening to our feedback right now and do what needs to be done to make things right... I fear it will never be as good as it was supposed to be, and neither will any future games.
I am completely done with Battlefield and now I only hope they don't ruin Mass Effect and Dragon Age as well.
(For the record while it wasn't great compared to the original trilogy, I actually do like Mass Effect Andromeda. I just prey they don't add microtransactions to them besides the normal DLC Expansions or try to make them multiplayer. That didn't work before, and it definitely won't now.)
@Jesse165Outside looking in, I see where some corporate types envisioned gathering any and all gamer types, PC, any and all consoles etc and making a bundle and huge hit of a game where they only managed to * off everyone.
Personally, I find the game good but had no expectations to be anything but just another PC FPS. Never even knew about cross play.
However, I am not new to being let down by "visions" via TFC/TF2.
I will never play TF2 and TFC completely died in 2007.
Bottom line is, gaming changes and even faster now days. None of ye should never have expected to improve or relive the BF glory days. Its dead and gone and unfortunately so is BF2040 sadly.
No one is interested in "old" games no matter how much a part of ones own gaming world it played a part in or what they add to it or how much better the GFX is. Its old and no one wants to play them. They want the latest and greatest for a couple of months and off to the next game. Its what this industry has made it to be for sales. TFC was offered free added to Half-Life thus no money in it and it had to go.
If you don't like BF2042 and played more than 2 hours your not getting your money back just like I never got any for TF2.
Its just that simple...
Pack it up move on and go find another game...
