I was there when the original DICE Devs realised that they had to encourage squad play by ensuring that no one had all the goodies... you needed a medic, you need ammo guy, you need an assault- you had to squad up! They also discovered lone wolfs would grab the sniper rifle, take a jet (taxi) and parachute onto a hill- this is why eventually pilots had a poor load out, to ensure that pilots could be just pilots (which is what pilots actually want). This is why we have the class system.
Currently you can take a sniper, medic, ammo, a heli and taxi to a roof top- this is not a good thing to encourage.
I have nothing against specialist per se, but they should be locked into what they can do, currently they have no disadvantages whatsoever, and the class system has become pointless as anyone can have anything from the load-out.
