Suggested joystick fix

Has anyone tried the suggestions below as a solution to fix joystick support.

SIMPLE ANSWER:

  • Use Steam edition of BF2042 for joysticks to function, with a specific setting: Steam Input Enabled. Then define layout of joystick controller as Ps4 and map your buttons to map defaults in game. You may need to start with clean profile (back up and delete old one in settings).

  • Controller in Origin: Origin will often only recognize controller if joystick (or similar input device) is unplugged.

  • Joysticks in Origin: Use Hidhide to hide your joystick the use x360ce or xoutput to emulate a controller, so Origin sees only an emulated 360 controller. Can't have other controllers plugged in at same time.

Agree. It should be working, but I have a feeling it's not going to happen for the time being
Steam seems to be the best solution without having to use 3rd party software.
I can fly with K / M, but it is just more fun with my x52 pro.

  • I've got HOTAS setup for when I really want to get into it and I pulled it out for this game but well, disappointment.

Then playing the jets with M/K and eeeeh, jets don't feel that rewarding. Choppers do though.

In any case, setting ALL that stuff up with a HOTAS to maybe/barely work shouldn't be our job, devs should've just taken the time to implement it.

Haven't tested my controller yet... its a bit old 😕

I fear for my HOTAS though... the jets are way too arcady-handling to feel like its gonna work with a throttle...
