the only times ive been able to reliably target a tank is if someone else on my team/squad has it locked on with a SOFLAM. 80% of the time the grenade even when thrown at a tank point blank just bounces off and goes for a jet thats going at 3-4 times the speed of the piddly lil rocket motor of the grenade, on the other side of the map. the slowest chopper can outrun your anti armor grenade and the time it takes for the defensive flares fired from choppers to completely disappear and then regen is much faster than the flight time to target of the grenade especially since the enemy aircraft will try get as far away as possible. i have literally gotten 3x more tank kills by just lobbing a regular frag at them
Honestly kind of a joke it has taken so long for this to be addressed, and now we're looking at waiting at least until March for a fix.
I will say, though, that in their current state they are still useful for one thing - if you choose Sundance and the Stinger, you can use the anti-armor grenades to get a chopper to burn their flare cooldown, then hit them with the Stinger. Still pretty easy for them to get out of range in the 5 minutes it takes to lock on, but I've had a lot more success with throwing the anti-armor grenade then using the Stinger once the flares are no longer active. I've only seen the grenade actually hit a chopper a few times, but at least it gets them to burn a CD.
