I don't think it's been abandoned quite yet. In fact we just got some news today about Season 1 and the game economy.
- Anobix4 years agoSeasoned Ace@ElliotLH Unless there is a MASSIVE change in how things are currently running, it fully seems like bare minimum to avoid a class-action lawsuit amount of "content" per season at this point.
I will happily eat my words if this changes, but I sure as hell don't plan to give any more money to them after how this has gone for the last 7 months.- ElliotLH4 years agoHero+@Anobix I can understand that sentiment but I do still believe that their intentions are to keep support going at the moment. I think all we can really do at this point is see what season 1 brings, if it's successful, and whether there are any improvements made from that point onwards.

@ElliotLHThey have zero intensions to keep supporting the game.
They have more people working on MT's than the game.
The smug look on those devs faces talking about updates but ignored everything wrong with the game.
Most hate the specialists except the apex cod players no suprise there.
So they support the minority who like them WHY!!
Are they sulking because the game is below average at best so just annoying us on purpose because we know better than them.
Every map/weapon etc is ready to go they are just dragging it out over a year to say look at how great we are supporting a game a year after release after we lied to get your money.
Every patch release they break something else so no testing done.
I have not got a game in 2 weeks when i get to play. Everyother game works fine on XBOX series x ,ps5,switch and pc.
What does EA finest support say it must be your internet reboot your router honestly i give up with them.
EA offer me a decent wage will actually provide support for your customers.
I was hoping support would say not enough players playing but doubt they are allowed to tell that truth.

They abandoned this game in December. The original Season 1 content was broken down into 4 seasons to ensure they didn't have to develop any additional content. Outside of bug fixes and cosmetic changes (maps and Specialists), this is going to be the same game in a year. 4 new maps, 4 new specialists, a few new weapons, gadgets and vehicles. The bare minimum.
This game economy is as basic as it gets. Free Tier and Paid Tier, synched to ensure the free tier gets all the actual content with the paid tier while the paid tier get extra skins and XP boosts. Whoop De Do. Where is the Server Browser? Squad Management functionality? Platoons? Basic legacy features AWOL from this game and since that would be "new" development, we won't see it in this title. - StormtrooperDan4 years agoRising Hotshot
The reason I keep saying it's been abandoned is because no sane developer releases bug fixes 5 months after release with radio silence that lasts for months. The immediate month or two is a critical time for all hands to fix their list of 1000+ bugs.
I created this post before seeing their new economy blog post, which is a very good sign. It boggles my mind that both BFV and BF2042 were launched as live service games and needs continuous revenue to justify a live service dev team, yet both launched without a functioning ingame marketplace and purchasable content. Cosmetic content is the cheapest to produce and generates the most profit. It is one of the few places where more headcount can be thrown at to produce more content and to have a guaranteed return on investment. Both games only introduced their stores more than half a year later when most of the player base is gone. This kind of planning IS INSANE!
- RMEChief4 years agoLegend@StormtrooperDan planning? That went out the door after the first bad quarter. There has been zero new content developed since December. At this point all they are doing are bug fixes and cosmetic changes.

You know, the cosmetic stuff were probably ready months ago.
Unlike other content cosmetics need a lot less testing.
- 4 years ago@StormtrooperDan Battlefield v had bug fixes in release notes for well after a year of release!

To me it is sickening that we are only getting a total of 11 BF2042 maps which is basically half of any other recent BF title. What makes matters worse is the current 7, for the most part, are terrible BF maps.
I would never have pre-order or bought this game with such little content provided. The assumption is when you pay full price that you are expecting close to the same level of content. Seems like a bait and switch.
