I sure wish I could have had the tools to do a disc and ssd comparison but what I did notice or imagined was I "rocked" the first game, in my world that means more that 4 kills in just a few minutes and that's encouraging for my lack of skill level.
The jury will be out for a while on this one but I'm thinking it makes a difference, Sony and EA are gonna love to hear this; I just paid stupid retail for the disc.
Open to thoughts on this one.

ps, I did not loose anything by doing this, all game data/rank/stats showed right back up, I even gained a bunch of new kit.

As with regards to comfort in using it, its really a big difference compared to having to shuffle the disc around all the time. Though you can of of curse bring the disc also to a friend and then play the game on other PlayStations pretty easy, if you bring the disc around with you. But the digital version makes it definitely much easier and faster to start up the game every time you get in the mood for some BF2042 gaming.
I do however think you got it wrong with what's actually done with the disc while you are actively playing the game itself. After the initial game install, it has copied all game files to your local platform anyway, and it is only used to confirm the valid license upon each upstart. Because when you use the disc version, all the executables and data files are essentially installed on your local harddrive (HDD/SSD), as it also is exactly same way with the digital version. So in terms of game performance while you play with the soldier, then there is absolutely zero difference between the two game purchases.
So while you might have done well in your first couple of games when using the new digital copy, its all down to the placebo effect, if you thought it was due to your digital copy of it. But going for it with the right positive attitude goes a long way and can bring you into a new league of BF gaming, so keep it up soldier! ;o)
Thanks for all the info, and yes I have probably just paid twice for the convenience of having no disc spinning up. The days of performance issues with discs in vs complete ssd storage may have gone by the wayside in this case.
And I guess I'm being a bit silly thinking the data is being drawn from the disc and the hdd/ssd would impact game performance but I was looking to see if there could be some gains made. As I have posted elsewhere earlier, "there are some funny (not good) things going on.
Maybe I need to find a server for the blind and play there, I'd be the "king of the hill", yes laugh it up but true story here; my old friend was with IBM for many years and someone started a project to label ALL Abm's in car drive-throughs with brail on the key pads, NO JOKE, I watched it all go down. NOW THATS MESSED UP 😉
