@j1inhaHow it ever made it in the game raises so many questions.
People at Dice, the guy with the office or cubicle with all the posters of Helicopters hanging up… please stop letting him be in charge of vehicle design and balancing! I swear Dice has a Heli fetish.

@RaginSam What is perfect balance for helicopters? Just a question. We can exclude repair/support in spawns, cause of that helos will not be in field.

I think the two biggest issue is the lethality of air vehicles and how easy they can survive. They get to pick when, where, and how long they want to fight. There's no downsides and they're way too tanky. They can't be everything if they're going to be balanced. Lethal, but they have to make quick passes before getting locked onto. Tanky, but not very lethal for transports. It's not that complicated.
The Stealth in helicopter specifically is untouchable if the pilot isn't completely brain dead. They have flares, and then go into stealth mode after that. They also have insane maneuverability. You're not going to land many shots on them with Liz or a Tank. You can't shoot them down with FXM-33 missles. So, what can infantry do? Plus, you're trying to actually play the game by capping points, shooting enemies, and looking at what's in front of you. To counter any air vehicle you're waiting on them to get within range, have the correct anti air load-out, and then hope you have a window to do all that without getting shot by it or someone else. The problem is that it becomes tedious and boring for the player trying to counter the helicopter. Not fun game play.
Personally, I think air vehicles are near impossible to make them feel perfectly balanced in a BF games. First they need to be less lethal,so they can't just farm everyone in the server. Then they need to be weaker. I kept hitting a hind with two consecutive main tank rounds, peppered with heavy rounds in between, everything was hitting. Even after that, they still had about 30% health or so. It's so freaking hard to hit anything flying in this game as it is. I did that three times that round! Talk about feeling pointless.

I mean, everything is loosely based off of real things. The Condor is too, but does the real life version fly upside down at 30mph, carry infinite ammo, and can be repaired from within during combat? Is it used for combat at all? Nope.
It's also funny that the article you gave had this as the headline: "The RAH-66 Comanche Stealth Helicopter: Why Did It Fail?" LOL. I know that you're just saying it's real, but still kinda funny.
