Teammates griefing with mines

As if stealing vehicles wasn't enough. I'm driving an MAV, the most boring vehicle to drive, supporting my team by doing this. The round has just started. I have it on a point we're holding as the enemy (a distance away) is trying to push us. There is a tank with HE shells in the distance and not a lot of enemy engineers. The MAV is at full health. Gunners are firing nonstop. The tank is reluctant. Some "team"mate jumps in front of me and immediately plops down 2 mines right on my MAV, the obvious then happens from the tank.

I want my enjoyment back. Or punish players who do this. This is very detectable. Or make it so mines don't damage friendlies when blown up by enemies. Tons of solutions. Punishing friendly fire is literally a thing built into portal.

I'm getting very sick of where people place their mines. They don't want to go flank, go to an objective that's deeper in our territory then exit with one of the bajillion civilian vehicles or the call-in system, or do anything that requires effort, no, they will dump their mines on their side of whatever common chokepoint, so when a friendly vehicle stands on the chokepoint and tries to contest without clearing the friendly mines (good luck doing that in a transport vehicle!), it dies instantly. And this sort of mine placement is extremely predictable from the enemy too, so it's not like you'd be getting blown up by enemy mines because you know they're they're doing the same, you completely expect the mines to be there, you're just stuck spamming Q pointing right at the mines as they refuse to get spotted so your gunners would shott them.

  • @Lady_One Ouch that is nasty behaviour! I’m pretty sure this type of griefing is against the game’s ToS.

What wonders me is what triggers someone to do this?
But if you did not provoke it in any way I’d report the person doing this.

@RanzigeRidder2 To be quite honest, this may have just been someone who switched their brain off as hard as possible while throwing mines. Or it may not, it was right in front of my MAV and we had taken a rocket 10 seconds prior and the gunners were very active. This was at the start of a match on hourglass, I had just gotten to the middle point at the skyscrapers. I kinda doubt I provoked anything, but this person may as well have just been doing that for the sake of it.

However it was crazy infuriating and 2042 has been tilting me a lot recently, I really want to vent, like with that 40mm clip a while ago, and so thanks for the response.

@Lady_One I’d like to vote it’s more stupidity than malicious intent, but I’ve seen just enough players to have to keep malicious on the table. It’s crummy either way.

Same here, like with people griefing artillery truck users in BF1.

I'm impressed, most vehicle drivers have zero awareness of anything around them, despite the 3PV ability. Yet you also know what happens when the nme hits a friendly explosive- fair play to you ;-)
