@Ironhead841Its a simple logic really. You can call me a tinfoil conspiracy theorist if you will.
But EA is following Activision's steps. In order to stop people from "Ohmagad I die from 1000m he don't evens me, must be hacking" people, they will have to introduce some kind of system that prevents players of different skill level playing against each other. Especially now that cross play is a thing
CoD is doing it to extreme levels, reducing damage and hit registratio for players who are too good etc. Its bananas over there.
Here they're testing out soft SBMM that tries to somewhat level the playing field.
And its working a little. Games aren't super lopsided. I mean in previous games most matches ended in a disaster for the enemy team with 800 point difference. In 2042 most games of Conquest 128 are ending with a 200-300 point difference. There are exceptions, but still.
EA has slowly been pulling out from Rental Servers. BF1, then BF5 had no rented servers, only official. And now BF2042 has no servers at all.
I believe what you're saying but it sure as hell doesn't make a lot of sense to me, I would rather the option to play with who I want, when I want and where I want over SBMM any day.
Not having a server browser and persistent servers is probably one of the biggest gripes I see coming from other players. I would like to think they might have learned something from the matchmaking debacle that is in THIS game, but I guess not.
If they are planning on doing it for the next Battlefield game, I hope they are up front and honest about it at least.
