The gunplay in BF2042 is the worst of any game I've ever played period. As others have mentioned, it's probably baked in and just can't be fixed. We're 2 years in at this point.
BF5 had mostly terrible gun engagements in my opinion as well. Yes the weapons actually felt pretty good to use but the engagements themselves were only slightly better than 2042.
After BF5 I was really hoping to a return to fun gunplay engagements similar to BF4 and BF1. Unfortunately they've gotten worse. Lucky us....

I do wonder about a couple of things...
A "Single Frame Death" - where you believe you have been killed in the time it takes to draw the next frame on the screen...
- I often hear that I am hit by multiple shots, in very quick succession, when I die. So yes, it *seems* like I am insta killed, but by listening I can hear the 3 or 4 bullets hitting me.
- . How often are folks complaining about being one-hit, or damage not adding up to 100%. My thoughts on this is.. how often are these players actually at 100% health when being "one-shotted". With the number of bullets that are flying around, I often see folks doing "battles" where they are already down to 20% (or less) health. So yes, a "single shot" will kill them, or the damage in the log is less than 100% - because their health is less than 100% to start with.

The situations you mention happens as well, but that is not the problem.
The game has a big problem with the on-screen animations, not showing what really is happening in game.
You see an enemy apparently moving/running/reloading/what-ever, but actually he is already shooting at you and then you experience that you die "instantly", by weapons that needs several bullets to kill.
This has been a problem for a long time, BFV had this issue as well, but it got even worse in 2042.- Juzba2 years agoRising Rookie@cso7777 Lol wow, i just earlier answered other thread, that it feels like some people are head of me in the game. This actually explains a lot of things in this game.

A lot of the doubts would be probably be taken away if we would get a proper killcam, replaying your death from the enemies perspective.
But as this probably would only create bigger frustration and showcase the technical flaws I can imagine EA/DIce will be very reluctant to ever implement this.
