Interesting thoughts on the current situation.
I think people rely on the class system because it’s easier to see if the squad needs a medic, engineer etc etc. With specialists nobody has a bloody clue so it only negates team play.
I do agree with you though, people are selfish and lazy, and more so people are obsessed with kills. The support player is a dying trend. I would personally rather be the best support player on the team than the one with the most kills; but with additions of battle royale games it’s been hard to iron out a support trend these days. People just want the biggest e diek with the most kills.
Im a Long standing battlefield vet since 1942 in 2002, I’ve forced myself to play Battlefield V, but most of the others were enjoyable. Rip Battlefield Heroes. Honourable mention.
I have played Planetside 2 since launch in Nov 2012 (5000+ hours) and they suffer the same issues that you are saying with the player retention, it’s hard to force people to learn games anymore as they are just lazy. In depth games have a steep learning curve and progression. That’s why most stick to call of duty because each one after the other is the same. I think however since BF4 the biggest contention is that the battlefield series has changed so much that people liked what they had before because that was specific to the battlefield series and I agree with the assessment and cure. The simple fact is they need to go back to the original roots of the series and stop trying to be something its not.
People don’t like change; It’s not warm and fuzzy
