Small weapons do less damage but are faster and larger weapons will naturally do more damage at the cost of speed - I think that is pretty well balanced. What I don't like about the newer system is that this makes middle melee weapons pretty much outclassed across the board with the Barbed Wire Bat only having the benefit of being a rare novelty.
IIRC, melee hits from behind always killed in one hit; yeah, it can be annoying when the auto animation kicks in from what appears to be weird angles but that's just how hitboxes and input compensation works. I've snagged tens of thousands of tags so I've been on both sides lol.
Counter knifing needs to be tweaked - easiest thing you can do is make the prompt completely random and timed so people can't just spam that. Speaking of spamming, knife spam isn't really a problem, it's a symptom of victim panic though - if people kept their cool and just shot at soldiers we wouldn't have this spam stigma previously mentioned
@TTZ_DipsyMelee weapon speeds are a complete waste of time and resources. If higher priority work is not getting done to work on melee systems… As such, I don’t really care about that.
What I care about is the actual melee takedown that rewards a player dogtag. In Battlefield 1 and V, this was awarded for any melee kills, at any angle, at any time and it even included bayonet charges and katana kills. It was silly.
This effectively removed any skill-based elements from that system, as it used to be in previous titles. If takedowns that reward dogtags stay as only rear-aspect melee kills or at least requires a small hit box range, I would be completely fine with that.
Counter-knifing… meh. I always found it to happen when it shouldn’t and didn’t when it should.
I remain hopeful for this game…
