The more you play BF2042, the shorter the life of your SSD will be.

That is hectic. Is there a way to check if this is also happening to next gen consoles which have SSD?

I mean Xbox series s and x run on different operating system but its really a stripped down modified version of windows.

So each match we play is about equal to installing a new game, as far as drive longevity is concerned?

Is this confirmed across all game modes (competitive, solo/coop, portal)?

@Micco_ethdrive are you talking about, system drive? or the drive you have bf2042 installed to? basically what i mean is are you reading PAGEFILE writes?

@InnerD Yes indeed. I have 2042 installed on my D: drive but it writes to the Documents folder on the C: drive. You can see the cache folder in the screenshot below:

damn so that means all my cache is being wrote to a USB drive thats slow as beans.

if anyone else does the same like me (move the documents folder) you might get a fast drive for it in case its causing lags.

Playing one match on BF2042 will increase SSD write volume by 80-100GB.
If you are using cheap SSD, TBW may exceed the limit at once.
If you've already played a lot of BF2042 and have installed BF2042 on your SSD, try using software such as Crystal DiskMark to check the life of your SSD.

Some Japanese players have said on Twitter that SSDs have had their lifespan reduced.

The attached image shows the amount of data BF2042 has written to my PC's SSD, as confirmed by CrystalDiskInfo.
I bought the regular version and started playing on 11/19 (Japan time).
As a result of playing with my friends from the night of 11/20 to around 3am on 11/21, we confirmed that the amount of data written was over 1TB.

The attached image shows total reads in gigabytes, not total writes. Reads do not contribute to SSD wear.

The cache-folder seems to be the dx12 cache.

This will probably only be changed when new graphical content are being cached (used for the first time), which means it will stop writing data after having played all the maps a couple of times (and has cached all assets in the game)..
