@r1zky24 I never got BF1 or BF5 until they were like 5 euro's or free, didn't really enjoy them, guess it was too much of a change dunno can't really remember why I didn't. Played BFV a lot towards to end and some Battlefield 1 basically back and forth. The atmosphere in Battlefield 1 was just amazing but just like Star Wars that atmosphere wears of when it's picked over the sake of the gameplay imo.
Battlefield 4 didn't enjoy as much as titles before yet spend more hours inside that game then any other Battlefield to date. Also don't forget since Battlefield 4 gaming in general has become more and more popular and accesible, so those numbers do not tell the whole story.
What's that about taking a wheel from BF4? BF1 and BFV had classes just the same right?
Think the only reason many mention BF4 is because it was the previous Battlefield title in a modern setting.

Restricting Rockets to Engineers is too limiting.
Engineer is the weakest class. Nobody is playing it so currently Pilots run around with no fear. Played all day yesterday and Armor just parks on nodes. They aren't moving. They see that nobody is playing engineers (or very few, not enough to make a difference). Lis is being played, but she alone cannot down a tank, mav, large vehicle class. Maybe add the gadget to the Assault class as well. After all, they are Assault. Or allow Lis to carry rockets with her ability. She would be able to solo large vehicles in about 20ish seconds presuming she hits with all and isnt capped while shooting.
The irony was the the tidal wave of whine with the changes to Lis. Expect a tidal wave of whine from everyone who isn't a pilot now.

Just wanted to refresh everyone on how BF4 did classes since that is the BF most everyone wants 2042 to be like.
Assault: The Assault Class is the Medic of the team. They heal and revive fellow teammates with the Med Kit and Defibrillators. The firearms they can use include: Assault Rifles, Carbines, DMRs, and Shotguns
Engineer: The Engineer Class is the Engineer of the team. They repair friendly and destroy enemy vehicles with free-fire, lock-on, wire-guided missiles and other tools. The firearms they can use include: PDWs, Carbines, DMRs, and Shotguns
Support: The Support Class is the Heavy Gunner of the team. They lay down suppressive fire with LMGs and indirect mortar fire, and supply ammunition to the team. The firearms they can use include: LMGs, Carbines, DMRs, and Shotgun
Recon: The Recon Class is the Reconnaissance member of the team. They relay intel to the team on enemy infantry and vehicle locations while providing sniper support. The firearms they can use include: Sniper Rifles, Carbines, DMRs, and Shotguns.
Luckily they didn't lock down the weapons to each class.
Also, they should have given the assault class the med crate.

if they were going to do classes they should have given people *exactly* what they asked for. bind weapons to classes and make people live with it, don't do half measures

Or they could change the other two specialists' abilities to something that is actually useful and benefits their class.
I mean all the other two get is a weak easily destructible sentry gun that never, ever seems to target anything and a glass mini gun turret that pops up a big neon banner that just screams "I'M STATIONARY PLEASE SNIPE ME!"
Let one of them have portable AA mines like BF4 and maybe give the other those proximity mines from BF2142 or something, just make it something USEFUL!

What really attracted me to 2042 was the ability to design my avatar. Back in the day when we had a team of 4 guys, I was either Casper (with SOFLAM) or Falck. I'm horrible at twitch gaming so I supported my buddies. We had two guys who could easily get 40-60 kills without a permanent death. Whomever played Falck was lying down reviving them, and I had the drone showing them what to shoot. When a SOFLAM was needed, I would pop one out.
We bought into the teamwork, but we were able to design our team. We really wouldn't be able to do that effectively now. I had buttloads of assists, but no kills during that time. I avg over 200 spots and 90 assists a game back then. Good Times.

I've tried to like this update but it's not working. Too many restrictions. Prime example - the worst specialists in the game are the only ones with the M5. And you've got some specialist with C5 but no EMP grenade - why? It makes no sense. It hasn't increased team work whatsoever in games with randoms. Campers continue to camp and loan wolves continue to play away from their squad. The only people who play as a team are the people who played as a team before the update! So the net beniefit realized by all of this was giving tankers icons for enemies - something they could've accomplished without any of this.
On top of everything, the controls are an over complicated mess. Flying is dead now that line of site breaks have been negated. The load outs are infuriating. They should've been assigned to the classes! Now we have to change items around each time, so we effectively don't even have any load outs at all, just a single set of gear. All this effort Dice put into this patch could've been allocated to giving us actual NEW weapons and gear instead of a bunch of redundant Vault garbage, or a meaningful Tier 1 system so we have a reason to keep playing and trying new things.
And before anyone tells me to learn how to play other specialists, I've T1'd all of them. Boris is completely useless and an utter embarrassment to even been seen using, I'm honestly fighting the urge to uninstall and will probably give it one more chance, but I don't expect to feel any different.

Padding_Ur_Stats I agree that vehicles just got a huge implicit buff because almost nobody is now carrying rockets, and if they do, then they have a hard time getting resupplied once they fire those rockets.
Air vehicles are the bigger beneficiaries of this buff. Before the 3.2 patch it was difficult to shoot down a good helicopter pilot - yes they could be harassed to have to go and hide/repair for half the time, but a good pilot could still go 50-1. Now that constant harassment is not very feasible from an infantry perspective - helicopter pilots are getting what they have been complaining about forever, the ability to farm infantry with impunity. The only real ground threat to a helicopter is a Wildcat or other vehicle with cannons.
Ground vehicles at least are still vulnerable to mines/c5 - infantry rockets are now few and far between and can be stopped by Irish sentinels anyway, so not much of a threat.
The buff to Lis rockets are not really a threat to vehicles as her two rockets won’t kill anything before the vehicle can just back off and repair. Allowing her to equip the other rockets in her gadget slot might make her a viable ground vehicle counter. The idea that her default rockets are a serious threat to a good helicopter pilot (one that does not just hover over the battle) is ridiculous.

Yup, total mess and I hate it. I feel like we had it all, and now they're taking it away and restricting us.
I've been playing since BF2, and I liked the specialization previously, but I grew to like the BF2042 method even more. It was such a nice system to play the character I like with whatever items I needed at the time.
Honestly, as dumb as it may seem, I'm done. It's not fun like this for me.
I would be curious to see how this pans out, if they get more players because of it. I feel like the people who wanted this have mostly left long ago. Of course, I solely base that on the amount of people I heard constantly complaining about the game in chat when the game came out and for a while after, as opposed to the almost complete lack of complaining I was seeing recently.

I am not the one who barge in someone thread and gospeling "Battlefield experience has always been that" revelations, while only invest so litte time for any of the franchise and even worse spent puny €5 next to free to obtain them.
I liked the idea of BF4 second coming, but this is not what I expected. It is simply dry, tiresome, convoluted and now, they take away fun from this game.
Reason I brought BF1 here as a role model, which many diehard fans hate, but look how it stands against BF 2042, which turn out to be worst of since Hardline.

What kind of team play are you talking about if from match to match a player finds himself in a random squad with a rookie leader? There are no permanent squads in matches. There is no squad management system as in BF4. Start there.
This class system is absolutely ridiculous. Even the specialists could not be properly distributed. For example, how does Pike's basic ability and a sniper rifle correlate?

@r1zky24 Just giving some counter arguments to hopefully make some people see the benefit of the changes. And put in some counter balance.
What makes you say I invested so little? Played since 1942, Battlefield vietnam was even my first game to play multiplayer.
Dunno do die hard fans hate BF1?
To me they just added the fun back in the game. Are there specific things people lost that they go so hard against this update?
I agree they should make the engineers more interesting currently when running engineer I just ignore the gadgets. But still see plenty people using it Boris and Lis have always seemed very popular. To me it’s still the same game they just made it easier to read the game and actually play it like a game instead of a chaotic mess.

Again, how do restrictions in loadouts make a game more fun, especially when those restrictions weren't there when we bought the game? We paid for something that has now been taken away and replaced by an inferior version. Why didn't they make this a game mode for those who like classes and left the rest of us alone?
- flcrm3 years agoRising Veteran
@doubleomeChaos occurs due to the fact that there is no balance in the formation of teams. And there is no system in the formation of squads. Absolute randomness (chaotic) in both cases. And since the vast majority of players are single players, there can be no question of any team play, this is just an utopian idea. It is necessary to balance teams and unite experienced players into squads. The class system has reduced the variability in the choice of combinations of specialists and devices, kills creativity and freedom of action. And it doesn't bring any team play, because the radom squad of lones only exists for one match and there is no squad management system.
- flcrm3 years agoRising Veteran
@doubleomeAlso a source of chaos is the concept of monkey vertical gameplay and the corresponding map design. You're looking for chaos in the wrong place. Normal maps in BF2042 are flat maps, like Spearhead (best of BF2042), Kaleidoscope, Renewal, Breakaway or Hourglass. Personally, I hate Discarded and Manifest, worst maps in history ((

Snipers will still take Falc or Mackey. 99% of players will not use the main ability of the engineer class - repair tool. And so on. A meaningless system that imposes meaningless restrictions and inconveniences. No?
- r1zky243 years agoRising Scout
I played in squad first and last with BF4, and then when BF1 came out none of them played anymore because jobs, family, etc.
Luckily, I doesn't have that luxury and move cities to cities so often so I got time to played but not that much.
As I said before, I don't mind the second coming of the B4, but considering many "new" troops are completely clueless to play a tactical FPS, let alone the Battlefield model, it's very frustrating. All they know is equip themselves with all defense crap and cower camp in a corner. It might be different from servers in certain regions, but in my region Assault plays a critical role, they flank, destroy vehicles and capture flags. The rest just enjoy easy spawn or cheap kill. It's been always that way since BF 1, BF V and "early" BF 2042. And don't start with the idea that they could learn few things or two, no effing way, they grew up in the BF V era or at most the BF 1 era, rarely did any of them play BF 4.

It's borderline ignorant to compare between specialist and class, no its not the same thing but I welcome everyone to mix between the two.
To put it mildly, I'm quoting @RaginSam :
If you think Classes is what makes a BF game, I think you're missing the point. Plus, the Specialist were classes, but just more flexible.

@r1zky243.2 has for me nailed the best middle ground that could be achieved by limiting gadgets and keeping the weapons universal

@r1zky24never compared specialist and class. Completely wrong from the beginning.

Remind me again what [ insert your preference ] were there when it launched and what [ insert your preference ] forced down our throat right after the update?

Of course, restricting what is already limited is a very brilliant invention, Elon must learn from EA-Dice.
