The Points System Should Return

You say you are looking for and paying more attention to community feedback, so here’s one thing that I feel is an important consideration that should greatly improve the feel, player engagement and enjoyment of the game:

The points system

There are so many things the points system does better than the current exp system, I consider it a complete upgrade over exp and don’t know why you changed it.

For starters, points have always been equal to exp. The points you get is the exp you get. There was no reason to resort to exp when points already did the job but better.

Points help to incentivise teamplay. In bfV for example, you could heal one player for a certain amount and recieve points for the amount you heal, therefore you could play as a medic and amass the points needed to top the scoreboard without getting the most kills. Same goes for ammo, as well as destroying vehicles. The point feedback system allows the performing of your class role to raise your position on the scoreboard as well as help your team win the game, as a result more players would enjoy performing those supportive actions. Alongside this, someone who might not be that proficient at getting kills can still do better than others by sticking to their role. If you want more teamplay, start by reintroducing the points system.


Points also provide more player engagement as they are rewarded for performing certain actions. Getting a squad wipe provides bonus points, getting headshots provide bonus points, breaking a vehicle part shows what you damaged as well as the total damage dealt to the vehicle. These bonuses make you feel better about stuff you’ve done in game, as well as provide so much more information that can be vital to players, such as the aforementioned damage dealt to vehicles.

I personally would have far more fun in the game if I was being rewarded for my actions with this system. Needing to heal 10 people to get enough exp to match one kill is not as satisfying as seeing the exact amount of health you’ve healed an ally, and in two heals earn enough points to count towards a kill. By doing this, the inate desire to top the scoreboard will incentivise more players to perform their ‘class’ role, while also being more satisfying for the player.

I hope DICE take this on board, as it’s something I feel would make the game instantly feel more ‘Battlefieldy’.
