The Question of Aim Assist
Okay, I'm finally putting this here, because I am really, really at a loss. How powerful is the console aim assist? From my POV, it might as well be a legalised aimbot. Currently, I have to resort...
In the last round I just played, as Paik, I had an enemy in my sights. They were crouching moving to a doorway. Great. Aimed at the spot and they appeared, slowly. Visible for nearly three seconds. Unload on them. Hit, hit, hit, hit. Guy steps behind them, goes down. The player I'm shooting does not. One shot, I'm dead. Console player.
Shortly after, similar situation, enemy moving to door. Ready to ambush them. Open fire, hit, hit, hit. Instantly dead from one return shot. Console player. Same weapon. The difference is my bullets are spreading and some are missing by millimetres. They, on the other hand, are landing every single shot they fire. Its the only explanation for why their TTK is like a fraction of the time. They're landing the necessary amount of shots in a shorter period, basically using less of the magazine before the kill. It was painfully obvious with another player, an Angel, that they were perfectly tracking me through a piece of cover, because they were firing and on target a moment before I actually emerged.
I see this with sniping as well. They move an inch, shot goes off target. I move a foot, shot hits my instantly regardless. I had to turn crossplay back on to get a match, and it was literally get a kill, die, get a kill, die, get a kill, die, for the first 8 kills, I was near instantly capped by a console player. One minigunned me to death in half a second, with barely any part of my body visible around a corner. I've lit up people in the open and it took longer. See this with Condor miniguns as well, single digit rank console players getting instant headshots with the minigun as its zooming around. Not to mention OHK 50mm cannon shots, which I believe are only with direct hits, but I'm still dubious on that because it takes three hits to kill someone when I use it. Or two 40mm (again, takes at least four to kill when I fire at someone).
I'm feeling the same as a PC player, I'm getting laser beamed by console users with their career level within 1 digit no. since update 1.2 and what's most infuriating is that almost 80-90% are headshot kills.
One guy said here on this thread that YT content creators are advising console users not to use Snap Aim Assist while it's enabled by default, but I'm wondering how many console users are following these small channels and taking a more 'pro' approach of this game rather than a casual one.
Interesting fact: Yesterday, during a game on 24/7 Stranded CQ mode, 2 squad mates (console users) were talking in squad voice channel what profile & settings need to be activated in cronus to activate a so-called 'fire mode' and 'anti-recoil' profile. Is this legit?
