Are you certain it isn’t due to someone making an educated guess where you might be in the smoke? Are you certain that you were 100% obscured by the smoke from their view?
In my experience Aim Assist shuts down even when a player is partly obscured by smoke. In situations where I see smoke pop on an enemy body you can anticipate the revive and start spraying in the area of the body. In those cases I recall having to ‘feel around’ for hit markers. It’s not like it locks onto the players through the smoke.
If PC player kills you while in smoke do you assume they were hacking? Have you never killed anyone through smoke?
- @AngrySquid270 its works only through underbarrel-smokeslauchers normal smokegranades and smokelaucher are fine.
Am on pc there the assist is certainly weakened, do not even have the snap option only the slowdown.
But unfortunately i can't solo test how the assist reacts to counterfire in a smoke.
But it would be interesting if someone tests it on PS or Xbox.- @Ne0tax Aim assist has been dialup up and down for many months since launch for Xbox Series X console, from my experience. About three months ago it got dial up too much, but 80% of the time it kind of sucks to put it kindly.
For example, season two won't track if you are near the target, but it randomly pulls my sniper when I'm 3-4 foot away from a target, but then the aim assist completely goes away as I near the target so I end up fighting a ghost player so really best just to turn it off as it "kind of sucks"...but I'm starting to think it is weapon specific, as I'm getting killed by the SFAR-M GL about 70% of the time, and when I switched to that weapon, my aim got "magically better". There is a chance Dice has different aim assist per weapon, per attachment, per upgrade, etc. I really seems overly complicated to be honest...so I watch what latest OP META exists, and try to mimic until the nerf it into oblivion. Kind of a game inside a game, I wish they listed all the hidden changes via patch notes, but that would probably be hundreds of pages...
I will say the "anti-aim assist bubble" doesn't seem to be there anymore, as after Season 1 the aim assist would push you off the player in attempts to "help", like they had an invisible force field after a couple of shots.
