This game is just a 60 euro Demo

So here I am, almost 100 hours into BF2042 since Nov 12 "release". And while going deeper into this game, I just realized how god damn small it is.

There are only 22 primary weapons. For comparison, in BF4 each class has access to 27 - 30+ different primary weapons and an insane amount of gadgets. There are 6 - 11 weapons in each category while BF2042 only has 2-4. And don't get me started with " live service". You will probably get 2-3 more guns in each category if you're lucky. That would bring BF2042 in line with BF4's launch weapons, before DLCs.

I've made a thread outlining how stupid vehicles look compared to BF4. Half of the customization options were just removed for no reason. The only thing that you can really mess with is the primary weapon, sometimes secondary for helis. No option for different optics, no different counter measures, or passive abilities such as reactive armor. No iconic TC missile for chopper gunner. It's a joke.

128 player matches just don't work. As with most new things in the BF franchise, they don't work as intended. Increasing both player size to 128 and map size was a bad idea. What we got, in the end, is an unplayable, unoptimized mess. First of all, over 70% of the map is not used at any given moment. Every map has this point or area where 90% of all players are staying. Breakaway its A sector, Discarded C/D area (The entire ship), Renewal central entrance C flag, Kaleidoscope D/E area. You get the idea. I just don't feel the increase in player and map size at all. For reference, I launched BF5 and BF4 just to check if I'm just mistaking myself or I got used to BF2042's flow. But no, 64 player CQL in BF4 and BF5 feel just as "Large" as in 2042. But at the same time, actions are a lot more "balanced". There are players everywhere, you can always find a fight.

And regarding fights in 128 player matches. Your individual skills or even skills of your squad don't really matter anymore. in a 64 player game a single squad of 4 or 5 people can create a big problem for the enemy team, and in many cases, turn the game. In 2042 this isn't the case. You simply stay with the horde. Because if you don't, you will get jumped on by 3 boltes, a couple of tanks, and 10+ people who just saw their flag is being taken. There is no chance of fighting as a squad against an enemy team anymore.

I won't go over a list of "legacy" features (Whatever the f that means) that were removed by Dice because....reasons. There are way too many of them.

I will check out what 2042's live service is about, but remembering BF5 live service, I don't expect anything at all. Until then, Dice better keep polishing the game.
