The effect of tornado, distorted voices of announcers, a scream when the player got into the fire, checking weapons when the player appears, slow switching between weapons, gadgets and grenade launchers, sometimes buttons that do not work the first time, not normally configurable sense, and so on. Who does all this?
You only have cosmetics more or less normally, but this is far from the most important part of the game.
While I'd prefer 2042 be a traditional Battlefield title I am very happy with the changes that DICE have brought to the game based on player feedback. I know we'd all love additional changes but it's important to acknowledge progress when it happens and we can only hope that the next title truly goes back to Battlefield's roots.
To me the worst in the series was BF hardline, it just was not BF.
This game has turned around IMHO and i actually enjoy it. (if i remove the cheesyness)
Next game needs to be back to roots, or they will loose a significant player base.
I will still buy it though, its the only game i enjoy. All other games just dont do it for me.
Have you considered that, back to the roots thing means different to where you started playing this series. It is not obvious that everyone associates BF with the first BF1 game that was released. But rather where you started playing.
Then you can claim out of selfishness that the series will fail because .I don't like it, because it wasn't like before. The truth is that the developer is constantly getting new players who will associate, what they play is the roots.
Doesn't that sound like life, where the older leave and the younger take over.

The game was just fine as it was.
They tried to change it for the younger (dare i say it COD) population and failed massively.
