Very neat, always cool when there are little side quests to do. Sort of reminds me of the finger gun in BFV but this time you get to keep the player card
Must be triggered by something. I just searched the entire map, looked at every box, sector by sector, and nothing.
I wonder if it is something that pops up at 2335Z everyday for a certain amount of time? It is 1650Z right now.
Most easter eggs in older titles couldn't be completed in coop if I'm remembering correctly (though I guess anything is possible).
I assume this is like the finger gun or the shark in which there are low spawn rates to begin with and maybe only a single person is able to see/collect it
welp, it cant be done in solo/coop, i found one in the first one i tried of kaleidoscope, but it didnt do anything, unless someone can tell me i did something wrong lol
I think you probably have to play the full conquest 128 player version to get the map with the box on it.
go into portal and then browse, someone is running a server called chest hunt.

Found it first try, right at the start of the game. The reward popped right up.
I love esster eggs, unfortunately i dont get to play kaledoscope regularly to look for it
They are on most (maybe all?) maps, I found it on Breakaway myself.
Here's a little more info if you're still looking for the card.
1. Don't leave the immediate area of the beeping box until the card pops up on your screen, it can take over a minute so don't die waiting.
2. The box can't be destroyed and it beeps loudly when you're near it.
3. It can be found inside buildings or out in the open. All of the ones I've found have been to the side of a shipping container or up against a wall.
4. I've found it more times on Hourglass than all the other maps combined. Back buildings west of D1, Near the flag at C1 and the bottom floor of a skyscraper south of E3.
5. The only other place I've found it was on Kaleidoscope just east of the large amphitheater in the center of the map against a pathway wall.
6. It can be found on Portal full XP servers.
