@CDNAngryPenguinI'm of the same opinion. The only people enjoying this game right now are the infantry famers. The numerous pilots that totally ignore the objectives, and other aircraft, and fly across the open spaces (and let's face there are still lots of those) whilst holding left mouse. DICE just empowered them to do more of it with less fear of retaliation. This isn't BF anymore, it's Infantry Farming Simulator 2023...
Funny you say that. One of my conquest rounds yesterday was on that night 2042 map.
The enemy team actually had a proper role distribution which made at least a quarter of their infantry be on anti vehicle duty which meant that for every vehicle, the attacks were constant from multiple angles and directions.
They came for our squad vehicles with both direct attacks, guerilla warfare from hills, crates and cranes along with the occasional help from their own vehicles.
We had to actually give up on using vehicles because we were just a big target as a vehicle.
I was not even mad but proud of them for playing well.
Victory is supposed to go to the team which uses combined arms best (infy, vehicles and air).
The BF2042 vehicles are far from being the BF1 behemoths, they will be in trouble if they receive the right response to their threat.
Players need to remember that the infantry are still the vast majority and they can use this to their advantage instead of dueling vehicles.
Even the currently overpowered attack helicopters are far from hard to take down with infantry. Just yesterday 1 of my friends took down 2 of them with just the M5 recoiless.
This is a pretty null argument. "One of my conquest rounds" + "just yesterday 1 of my friends" are all indicative of confirmation bias and an extremely small sample size.
Meanwhile, there are plenty of threads recently after the last DICE change with a bunch of people annoyed and Alt-F4'ing themselves from this game. You can defend using aircraft all you want but it's only a matter of short time before all you're killing is AI.
I mean, I full well expect this to keep dropping:

Don't get me wrong, as I've said, in 2 days I've significantly improved my kill count via the Huron and thoroughly enjoy wrecking the enemy team. It's quite perverse and it feels incredibly dirty, and since I work full time I only get to spend an hour or two gaming. While I have fun, it feels so wrong especially when I'm pooping on the same Wildcat that I used to enjoy using or taking out tanks with one fell swoop. I'd like to think I'm at least an average pilot and have dodged more missiles than I care to remember. But in any event, I guess it's what 3x 32" 4K monitor gaming gives me advantage wise :-)
Would I rather go back to what I'm damn good at? You bet!
If you don't "see" a problem with 1 hour and 18 minute of TOTAL play time on the Huron with 91 kills, then you have missed the point entirely. It's "wrong", and I do *not* play vs AI. I play vs humans.

I actually shot down 5 helicopters last night 🙂
The pilots weren’t very good though + I dedicated my gameplay 100% to hunting air units.
In some of the cases others from my team were shooting at the helicopter(s) too, however only with their guns as far as I could see.
Still, they may have softened it a bit.
I ran with Boris to get that little bit of extra anti-vehicle help from his turret + FX anti-air missiles.

Don't underestimate the power of shooting helicopters with normal guns though! Although it may deal little damage it will break a self repair which might help in the process of eventually destroying the helicopter. Or in case of the stealth heli, if damaged enough it should disable stealth mode. It's exactly for this purpose I have the anti armor rounds in the 3rd ammo slot of my LMG's if I'm running engineer, so when I ran out of missiles I still can contribute to countering helicopters.

Generally it is worth to throw everything one has at the heli etc.
Just yesterday, the already damaged low flying condor I was a passenger at, got blown up by an EMP grenade. I am not sure if it was a chain reaction or something else, but it blew us up
