@X-Sunslayer-X wrote:After having skimmed through this thread I can say a few things.
- If a team of either 32 or 64 players is willingly ignoring an Attack-Heli to play as it likes then they deserve to be farmed without mercy or respite. The average BF player-base has entirely adopted the idea of "this is a teamplay game so someone else will deal with it its not my job" and it is time for either of two things to happen. These players remain crop to be farmed by better players or they get their act together and start thinking and breathing at the same time. This is not a BR where everyone plays for themselves, this is not COD where the average idea of "teammates" stops at the fact that you just can't shoot them dead.
- 2042 has by far some of the most prolific ways of dealing with any Aircraft with the sole exception being the former "Transport helis" now called Gunships.
- Use the Wildcat with either 30mm or 35mm cannons to shread most anything as long as you are not letting the guns overheat like a *. Additionally do not rely on the lock-on AA missiles. They are a waste of your time and don't forget to add the Flak pod to your loadout as additional DMG to be dealt to flying enemies
- LATV and the hovercraft have access to the 20mm Flak gun so equip it and call them in and pounce on unsuspecting vehicles. Feel free to move the vehicle to stay unpredictable.
- The MAV has the 50mm that deals a truckload of DMG to vehicles in general while being the most heavily armed vehicle in the game. Additionally, the MAV has the 40mm canister pod that can snipe pilots out of the Nightbird if you hit the windshield and also deals respectable DMG out at ranges beyond 70m if you can lead enough.
- The Brawler has access to the APDS dealing a lot of DMG to any vehicle as well as the 20mm Flak on top of having APS nullifying any rockets shot by choppers or the 50mm
- Tanks can oneshot any heli and plane with the exception being the "Gunships". It's not difficult once you get the hang of it. Every time I play 2042 I get at the very least 2-4 Helis with the MBTs
- Use the TOR. If you can not kill a heli with the TOR at range then there is sadly nothing I can do for you it's brain-dead easy and I am pretty sure my grandmother can do it if I explain it to her once.
- Use the M5 with a bit of practice you can learn to use the launcher to dumbfire at choppers especially less skilled pilots who hover a lot and will die like flies to that
Should you still get farmed by a heli after all that advice I again regret to inform you that there is nothing anyone can do to help you.
I like how you say there we have the "most prolific ways" of dealing with Aircraft and then list 6 ways that all require other vehicles. Including saying that G2A lock on missiles are useless (unlike A2G missiles from aircraft), suggest using APDS on aircraft(!?). With civilian vehicles now being mostly removed, most other vehicles are usually unavailable anyway - so you want to me to waste half the round in the deploy screen waiting for a vehicle to become available? If the vehicles are so great, they won't respawn for ages! 😉
If only there was an infantry class that could deal with vehicles effectively and not have to rely on other vehicles to do it - I dunno - we called it "engineer" or something....
So to sum up I either have to wait for another vehicle to become available, or hope that some of the pilots are total noobs and just hover in front of me? Otherwise, get farmed......
So thanks, but mostly useless advice there...
The LATV is almost always available and can be called in at a moments notice to lay a trap for unsuspecting air vehicles.
The lock-ons are stupid because they are easily countered and I can not even begin to count the times I have seen Wildcat drivers use lock-ons instead of shooting their main guns at a heli within 50m allowing them to get away. The underlying problem is still that vehicle vs vehicle gameplay is an absolute bore in this game. skill has nothing to do with it 9/10 times if one vehicle has APS and the other doesn't its just dead or if its the TOR tank sitting in base you are just gone. Try and remember that teamplay starts with you

@X-Sunslayer-X
and also the fights between two equal jet pilots are decided by who is on whose tail with little room for any outplayingBF4 had alot more nuanced vehicle gameplay between the flare/ ECM separation and the speed control for optimizing the turn speed.
- MADMAC50K2 years agoSeasoned Ace@X-Sunslayer-X I agree the lock-ons are stupid and mostly useless. But why? Why even have them in game if they are easily countered? That sounds like a balance issue, which is kind of the point I'm making.....

@MADMAC50K
Because they work if they are used in the window that the aircraft is vulnerable to them.
Most pilots get too greedy and you can make them make mistakes they will regret.Even pointing the launcher at them and maintain a lock will help deteriorate their concentration make them retreat or use flares
One stinger that is stopped by flares means that another player, ground or air vehicle in your team can possibly have the chance to finish the job.
I got to remind everyone that this does not need to be an honorable duel. There are over 10 times as many soldiers as air vehicles per team
- X-Sunslayer-X2 years agoSeasoned Ace@MADMAC50K they are in the game for players who can't be bothered to aim their launchers. so about 75% of the 2042 player base
- VOLBANKER_PC2 years agoSeasoned Ace@TG_Maveric2022 I’ve noticed from playing Boris as vehicle hunter the past week that it rarely pays off to equip Anti-air missiles. There are more ground vehicles and they are easier to target than air units.
Usually with air units I lock on with an Anti-air missile, pilots shoots off flares and then flies out of range from me. And that’s all I got out of trying to hit him with my Anti-air missiles.
I know: Multiple people should do it, but other people have apparently also found out it doesn’t pay off to equip Anti-air missiles because it’s rare anyone other than me uses them.
Then vehicles can target enemy air units, as Sunslayer. says, but there’s not always a friendly vehicle nearby and if it is, there’s no guarantee the people in it will even consider targetting the air unit. - 2 years ago@X-Sunslayer-X
I know the thread is mostly about air vehicles. But you said:
> It is an idiotic idea to have the mindset that one infantry player should
always have 100% ability to destroy a vehicle without putting in any effort.
That might be so, but not being able to kill a heavy transport with all the C5 you can carry is plain stupid. IMHO there should not be any vehicle (e.g. the CAV Brawler) that should withstand 3 C5. And while we are at it, I mus say that it is rather sad that forum rules deny us the ability to state what should be done to the person that thought it a good idea to add a 'Close Defense System', allowing this abomination of a transport to drive into an objective and wipe out half the team by pressing one button. - 2 years ago@ForumUser
This is why AT mines are superior to the C5. Nothing survives 3 of them. - VOLBANKER_PC2 years agoSeasoned Ace@TG_Maveric2022 Plus, you feel like a bada.. when rushing up to a vehicle to throw your three mines around it while it’s turning etc. 🙂

@VOLBANKER_PC
it pairs well with the smoke grenade.
Very few tankers reverse out of that smoke because they think they are safer inside the smoke if they do not know what is coming - VOLBANKER_PC2 years agoSeasoned Ace@TG_Maveric2022 I always end up getting lost in the smoke and get myself killed :D
