Toggling Javelin
Is there supposed to be a way to toggle fire mode on the javelin? It seems it can only fire direct mode, not top down. Also is it not possible to lock on to a ground target (nonvehicle) as in p...
@Psubondflares stop lock, yes. Jav ( if using IRL ) is a Infrared Fire and Forget system. controller programs the warhead and guidance for Direct seek or top down sense and then tells the seeker in the warhead "hey look here"
once that missile is loose, it can be stopped. now, if it was doing actual SACLOS guidance, you cant stop SACLOS unless you stop the spotting by LASER or you put a object between you and the missile.
but this is BF, so, using IRL references is pointless.
I havent had enough time to see how many it takes and the differences between spotted and self direct fire.

cool, i was never a grunt, we didn't get to play with those. sound cool though
Assuming that the 'top down' does more damage (haven't been on yet!) then I disagree that fire modes should be toggleable (sp?).
The 'top down advantage' should only come through teamwork with SOFLAM/Dart as it was in previous games.
@Trokey66well, i finally got a SOFLAM'ed target on a M1A5 - it DOES NOT do more damage, because my next shot was non-SOFLAM and it did the exact amount of damage to a direct shot to the engine bay.
So, by that, its not properly programmed for armor nor the mode and thus, should be made your "Weapon Firemode" button should toggle it based upon the situation you are presented with. if a target goes under a building or some kind of obstruction, top down would be zero effect. so the operator would logically switch to direct mode. and enable a direct to target shot under the obstruction.
