Matchmaking simply is just forced play, and doesn't care if you're having fun or not. Old school server browsers gave you choices, which is what players want. Sadly, though, Battlefield players are not the target audience for Battlefield 2042.
Also can you choose maps in Halo Core MP ? In COD core MP ? in any games with matchmaking ? No and you shouldn't be ...
Servers browser make sens when custum experience are present not in regular matches ... Allowing poeoples to try to skip and choose maps will only create issues where poeoples wont even give a shot to maps they dont do well right away in .. And crap like this creates the caspian border/ metro24/7 locker24/7 senarios

@Stew360This is a horrendous take.
#1 This is not CoD and nor Halo, both of which are a different experience all together so matchmaking works (because of the size of teams/maps/gameplay).
#2 Linking progress to a broken and unnecessary matchmaking system will kill anyone's will to play the game as they try to finally get into a usable match for their progression. That's where the browser (if you're going to implement a bad idea like progression locked to having to play all maps) is about 10000x better than matchmaking.
#3 Browsers allow for player choice, which is definitely what players want and deserve. This whole "the big multi billion dollar conglomerate knows best" mentality is how we get a game like 2042. - 4 years ago@-DFA-Thump I dont even have the patience anymore to respond ... As if halo big team queus giving randoms maps was different than BF AOW giving randoms maps ... wow ...

You say :Full map rotation should be required for progressions ..
Full map rotations are exactly what we are asking for not playing Manifest 5 times in a row, with MM we might as well be playing Metro 24/7 lol. We want map rotations, we want variety.!
You say : Also can you choose maps in Halo Core MP ? In COD core MP ? in any games with matchmaking ? No and you shouldn't be
So you think because Halo / COD don't allow a server browser BF is better to go that route as well whether it improves the player experience or not.? Even though the BF franchise has always had the server browser when COD didn't, that does not seem like a valid reason in my eyes.

You would think we were asking for custom servers we are asking for Official DICE servers in AOW plain and simple. Portal is the place for any customisation. I am not sure what you are getting at about people skipping maps etc and once again we don't want these 24/7 servers you keep mentioning so please stick to the facts.

@Stew360It is....by a lot.
#1 The Halo system actually works (both in technical terms and practical).
#2 The matchmaking system was also a part of halo since the beginning and therefore was purpose built as well as an expected system.
The fact that you are willing to give up the autonomy and freedom that browsers afford players is odd. - 4 years ago@RayD_O1 While i agree sometimes we get stuck in loops of 5x times breakaway etc.. and the sysyem should get improove to prevent that servers browser simply wont work unless matchmaking was remooved because youd compeat with automatic machine stuff unless you dont mind to sit in queus instead of having 90% of your game at the begining instead of halfway done ... .
As much as you idealise this .. it simply wont work well .. It work well in portal custom servers because its only servers browser and no matchmaking involved
So i would be all for having a system that prevent us from getting map repetitions but servers browser would be bad and uneficient for solo and impossible to use as a squad - 4 years ago@-DFA-Thump COD and every games copied Halo style matchmaking because its efficient and good .. BF had servers browser just like all games from late 90s early 2000 because its how old games worked ... It make no sens anymore in AOW ... it make sens in portal custom experiences to find a particular experience base on z x y parameters

@Stew360Who are you to tell people what they should or shouldn't enjoy? If I want to play a certain map 24/7, that should be my right. Being forced to play maps you don't want to play is what shouldn't belong in a core experience. Saying otherwise makes you sound like a troll.
2042 matchmaking is just bad. It can make you play the map 10+ times in a row (I can confirm this cause i've had it happen), or make you join a game that's nearly over. It also sucks that you can be enjoying a game with good people, and the game ends and that's it, you lost those people. I was gunning for a heli and we were vibing well and dominating the skies. I wanted to keep that experience going. Matchmaking basically laughed at me and said "F you and your enjoyment" while it put me into a completely new lobby that other person wasn't in. The matchmaking in this game doesn't promote a fun experience, it does the opposite.
- 4 years ago@Stew360 You do realize playing AoW and specific maps on it are indeed a particular experience based on parameters, correct? So by your logic, we should have browsers, especially if you're going to bind peoples' hands and make their progress map dependent.
- 4 years ago@-DFA-Thump No ones prevent anyones to play 24/7 in wichever portal servers they come up with ... AOW is like gears of wars 5 social match .. wich work with matchmaking ... AOW is that ..
Portal is like a gears of wars 5 custom servers but with the sbility to be joined by randoms trough servers browser ... - 4 years ago
@Stew360They do by limiting XP and progression on portal servers. AOW is not like Gears 5...not by a long shot.

Hold on, we had serverbrowser and matchmaking together in previous games, why would that suddenly be a problem for "automatic machine stuff"?
