10+ months post-launch of people giving extensive feedback on how they dislike specialists - which I get that they can't get rid of - and begging for actual customization options, and we get...some facial hair and a bit of dirt on 4-6 specialists.
I guess that's...better? It's an improvement I suppose? Honestly I'm not sure what the point of this change is since it doesn't really seem to address anything meaningful and seems like a smaller change that shouldn't take months of work. I get it, they probably stuck some artists on this recently but like...good lord the hole that DICE are digging themselves out of is still depressing as hell.
I've fallen off this game hard, it just doesn't feel worth sticking around while DICE continues to slowly, boringly, depressingly, underwhelmingly limp towards finishing core develpoment and having a solid base game. Haven't seen any patches in recent weeks so I assume the PC version is still all over the place in terms of performance, hopefully this update addresses some of that.
But I guess it's exciting that we're finally getting the first "finished" launch map. What a time to be alive! Truly, you can feel DICE putting the effort of the whole studio into Battlefield 2042 and it in no way, shape, or form continues to feel like there's a skeleton crew left working on this game at the rate things are getting done.
Maybe DICE should like, be a bit more transparent on the challenges they face? How much time it takes to do things? Because as-is it feels like, compared to most of the rest of the gaming industry, DICE takes 3-4x as long to do anything compared to competitors.
