Use Teamwork

Have you seen the posts?

If two or 3 people do this, I don't have a chance!

People.   This game is a teamwork game.   You're supposed to focus things with 2 or 3 people.

What surprises me is, that people don't use teamwork.   They whine about others doing it, but they don't use it.  They continue to spawn, run off on their own and when multiple people whine then it is used against them!!!!!!

Stop crying to nerf what the game is designed for.  Don't whine about teamwork, USE TEAMWORK

  • @Padding_Ur_Stats You're talking about the community with IQ of a teaspoon. Blueberries cannot read the ingame UI in order to figure out how to revive / heal or even use gadgets.

And you're talking about advanced stuff such as combining tactics and using "teamwork".

Lower your expectations a bit, jeez
  • @Padding_Ur_Stats Seen very little teamwork since BF4. IMHO, the player base is becoming more 'casualised' as FTP shooters grow in popularity.

    Who remembers LAN parties?

    @Lancelot_du_Lac I wouldn't say BF3 or 4 had much teamwork either.

BC2 did have a good chunk of players playing together. But that was due to small 12v12 or 16v16 format. If a squad was working together, they could cause alot of trouble for the enemy team. So it made sense.

BF3 and BF3 is where people began going 1 map army because it was simple and there was no point in going with a squad. You were most likely to get wiped by a single jet or overrun by the enemy herd.

Introduction of the assault class with defibs and health didn't help the matter. Everyone ran with the best and most overpowered weapons (Hello BF3 M16A3 and AEK-971) with M26 Dart + med bag and be a happy 1 man vs 64.

BF4 solved alot of the balancing issue, which made "teaming up" no so important. Vehicles weren't too hard to deal with, unless it was some really sweaty heli pilot on Siege of Shanghai or Dawnbreaker. This again made going solo assault and farming tons of kills very easily and profitable for the most part.

Since then it kept going downhil.

BF5 did a decent job promoting squad play. It was the first game where I saw randoms actively trying to stay together, asking for orders, reviving etc.

2042 threw it all in the bin.

And as you mentioned, people don't really care anymore. Which (I think) is why Battle Royal games are so popular. There you don't have to rely on 30+ other people to actually play the game. Everyone is for themselves.

    @UP_LordPlumberI think you are right.

Teamwork is hard - none of my friends play BF, and I can't stand to listen to the inane chat in-game. Play on console, so typing comments is a real pain. Also, I have other things to do, so I play at various times - no routine. Not being able to pick a squad is also a limitation.

@Lancelot_du_Lac Squad management, or lack thereof, is a total brain fart from Dice. Why was such a simple concept of kicking/inviting players, making a private squad / appointing a squad leader was so hard to implement? I don't understand it to this day

@UP_LordPlumber The other reason there was greater teamwork in the past is due to clans. You couldn’t get into a round without seeing at least one clan tag on a player, and often more than one. They had the comms and the desire to play together. It was fun, and why I love FPS. I’ve been loving it less as the clan supports are long gone. No rentable servers. Parties limited to 4. Can’t play with more than 4 without an ornate effort that falls apart at the end of the round. No browser so you can’t even all plan to play on the same server. There’s not even clan tags anymore. EA is putting a fork into clans and I’m not sure why.

@Padding_Ur_Stats With random players, communication is key. But BF2042 is sabotaging itself.
VOIP wins over CHAT, but since there are two chat channels PARTY and SQUAD that are mutual exclusive, and voip volume is pretty low, and voip defaults to party channel at the start of every match, there are more setups that prevent people to talk to each other than there are that enables it. And since it comes up again every other week, I believe cross platform voip isn't working either.

So people who don't know each other, that may have a chance to speak to each other, need to have voip enabled, and need all not to be in a party. And in my opinion, this is the least likely combination of player to talk to each other at all.
  • i can attest a good 60-75% of the current playerbase has neither any idea what teamplay is nor how to actually do it. i can tell a team in infantry breaktrough to use smoke to push a sector on Discarded and then they want to be padded on the back for dying 29x by snipers and saying "but i helped"....
i do not expect every player to be cracked out of their minds but 2042 has made me realize that if you play for your team you will be playing alone and only get frustrated....
but that happens if you design a game as a BR and then shoehorn it into an empty husk of a Battlefield game...
you get no recognition for support actions beyond reviving, the XP system rewards killing and camping a lot more then reviving or supplying does and there is no fixing that. this game is designed to be a solo run and gun experience simple as that

  • Since VOIP was turned on i met so many wonderful people on the PS4.
It is amazing to play together in a party. I rarely play by myself anymore.
Once yo experience team play talking and reviving and supplying each other with great people you would never ever want to play by yourself again.
So much fun, even dying together.
Few problems i see with people:

Gamers are usually socially awkward people. Mostly. That’s why they play themselves. I guarantee you if you start talking and you find the right people it would change your personality! For the better.
Other thing is: some people are toxic, and negative. No one wants to play with a person like that. Even another negative person gets tired of a copy/paste same type of negative person. Just start to talk and weed out the bad ones. BF2042 is about 800% better for me now with team play.
I don’t even care about the scoreboard anymore. It’s a social activity with some beer and laughs. ✌️

  • @Padding_Ur_Stats I could not agree with you more. I also have never had an issue with clans stacking teams because playing together and supporting one another's actions is what this series was designed for.

So if people want to defeat those that are doing this. Then they should be better teammates. This is what the Battlefield series should be challenging its players to do. Not making excuses for the players that do not want to use teamwork, and adding more features to cater to them.
