They have the numbers. They can see which weapons, specialists, vehicles, or aircraft are outperforming others.
I am OK with vehicles and aircraft having different capabilities, but by class, they should be fairly even.
Right now the Wildcat is terrible against aircraft, it needs a faster turret and a slightly longer range for AA missiles.
Stealth helps are too OP, and the Hind/Condor have to strong of weapons for transports. Outside of those, only minor tweaks are needed.
Stand off range was a thing back in older BFs, you had to pick and choose your battles. There also was more cover, especially at objectives where aircraft couldn't just farm infantry. Right now very few objectives have that type of cover.

I always felt like the game would be better off without any air vehicles. Transports only, maybe one or two mini guns and that's it. They are fun to use though, so I get it.
Realistically, I know that's not going to happen. There needs to be more AA around the map. It's frustrating to have to constantly change your loadout to deal with one really annoying chopper and hope that they fly near you at some point. Then, you hope someone else is putting pressure on them as well, because they'll just fly off and flare otherwise. Plus, you are just staring up in the sky a bunch. I don't know, it's just not that fun of game play trying to counter an insane heli all game.
Not sure how they can totally nerf tanks and leave helis pretty much alone. In a tank you move pretty slowly, your movements are pretty predictable, big hit box, and generally a team will have a good amount of players equipped with rockets or C5.
Air vehicles have ALWAYS been a problem. No one needs to go 100-2 consistently ever other match. It's fun for that one guy, but the rest of us are just getting burned out.

That BFF Stinger video is from 2013... BF3 time frame. Was there a period of time that Stingers dominated air in that game. I can't remember.
BF 2042 stingers are balanced...against the top 60-80% of pilots. Average and below average pilots get wrecked. Ace pilots have solved the threat and are essentially untouchable.
That's the problem when you have a skillless lock-on weapon. It has a tiny skill window. There's little difference between someone with 1hr of experience and someone with 500hr of experience.
Planes are the opposite with massive skill windows. The difference between a pilot with 1hr and 500hr is huge.
It's impossible to fairly balance the lock-on stinger against all skill levels of pilots. Some pilots get screwed, some get a fair fight, others dominate.

I play Battlefield because it caters to those who want a "Battlefield" experience whilst still maintaining an "arcadey" feeling without embracing hyper realism.

@S3SSioN_SoLI also like the whole Battlefield experience without it trying to be milsim. Really though you’d play something else because you’re not getting farmed lol? Like what? No other game plays like BF. Maybe Squad, but that’s a lot slower, with stiff movement in comparison.
I don’t enjoy being farmed over and over by jets, planes, or helicopters. Especially right after I just got a tank in the team spawn area. Helicopters shouldn’t be personal lobby murdering vehicles.
I say that it would play better with air vehicles being transport only because it’s one thing Dice can’t seem to balance at all. Like not even close. The only thing that counters a good pilot is usually another good pilot. Then they’ll keep each other busy. It’s not an impossible fix, it’s that Dice seems unwilling to make the necessary changes. A Condor shouldn’t take 2 hits from a MBT, while being peppered with an HMG in between shots, while it just sits there hovering and still live!
