I agree 100% vehicle game play now just isn't as fun and playable most of the time since the 4.0 patch. My guess is they wanted to push more infantry combat with these changes. More infantry combat is a great idea but on such large maps it doesn't make any sense. Large maps need various vehicles to get around and to have regular access to them. I would suggest including smaller maps for an infantry only combat mode and have this mode available all of the time. This could be a combination of new maps, older maps from prior BF games or scaled down versions of current maps Remember how fun Operation Metro was?

Think it'd also work with LATVs and quads too, on larger maps. Admittedly it wouldn't then be infantry only, but I don't think dealing with those kind of vehicles would be a huge challenge.

@ElliotLH
Given the size of the maps, at least on 128 player maps every player should always be able to call in some light transport (quad or motorcycle). It can be made in a way that they will explode faster if nobody is using them, say after 10 seconds they start to get damage over time applied and explode after 10 more seconds.
To make those huge maps and not be able to always get a vehicle is stupid (I am only talking about transports without any weaponry, just to make this explicit). What I always do is to redeploy and spawn somewhere closer to the action instead of walking. But I should not be forced to do that.- ElliotLH3 years agoHero+@DuaneDibbley Wholeheartedly agree with you there. It'd make things so much easier and avoid walking such large distances.

@ElliotLH and @DuaneDibbley The community requested more transport vehicles be added to DICE's walking simulator maps. DICE's response was they can't do that because adding more vehicles would cause low framerates and performance issues.
With last gen consoles DICE used to say they couldn't add more vehicles on maps because there wasn't enough ram memory on consoles. Now consoles have more ram memory (16GB) but DICE has found a new excuse for not adding more vehicles.
Either way it's extremely disheartening because I waited years for new consoles to come out with more memory so the vehicle limit problem could be fixed, and now DICE says there's another problem preventing them from adding more vehicles to maps...
This is why I say it's a bad idea to have faith in DICE and hope they'll fix stuff.- ElliotLH3 years agoHero+@OskooI_007 I can definitely understand that sentiment. While I may be mistaken, I think that increasing map size and player count was bound to cause problems like this. It could also be the reason for a lot of the maps feeling 'flat', as adding in more map features might effect performance too.

Played a few games today and it's still over powered the black bird.
They shoot at a distance hide behind a building etc shoot some more rinse and repeat.
Just give the infantry modern weapons to take these things out of the air.
It's 2042 and drones are not used as weapons just spotting?
So stupid and backward no wonder the player base is dead.

i have zero sympathy for people waiting in spawn screen for a vehicle. you are hurting your team by not helping take objectives. that is even more useless than a bush wookie camping on a hill. at least they get a kill every 100-200 shots and draw fire from other wookies. if whoever has the vehicle is able to stay alive they they are probably at least mildly competent in the vehicle they are in (unless it is armored, then they are just as likely to be camping on a hillside shelling objectives)

Honestly vehicle gameplay feels so bad in 2042 it's often more efficient to just run enemies over than shoot them.

Yup agree with you. It was fine the way it was pre 4.0 update. People need to realize vehicle gameplay and its presence is a big part of all out warfare conquest. Those who don't like vehicles can go play infantry only modes in portal.
