In a way, you could separate some abilities between fast jets, the fighters, and slower CAS jets. Give the CAS aircraft the 30mm cannon, and keep the fighters with a 25mm (of the upgrades, those never quite made a lot of sense given how much that would result in internal changes to the plane). Optionally, you could give them ammunition types. Give the fighters options for air to air missiles, maybe AGMs. For the CAS jets, give them a 30mm cannon, rocket pods, maybe JDAMs or cluster munitions. Would have to find a balance so they are not OP (I mean I do remember jet domination in the BF2 days with the bombs), but a versatile set of weapons would be nice to explore. BFV had a few aircraft types that could equip different loadouts, and I think for the most part they worked well.
Maybe the attack aircraft could also have some sort of guided weapons that need a "gunner"/weapons officer.
Either to use them at all or they are very unprecise without the other seat being occupied.

I see now why this has been ignored ... we didn't get any vehicle with Season 5 ...
And we won't get anymore further down the line?
