If all the console players would turn off Crossplay at the same time you might be able to find matches easier but that's a big might be due to the low player count.
AS far as BF2042 it's not a Battlefield game, sorry to say. It's playable, but not a traditional Battlefield more a battle royal.
The game has been headed this way since BF1. BF4 being the last true Battlefield with server browser, rental servers, true classes etc.

@sk1lld you're 100% correct! Since Bf1 its gone downhill and with 2042 it hit rock bottom...
I would be happy if they would make a sort of 'best of' battlefield game. A game with the best maps, weapons and gameplay mechanics from all previous installments.

- @cornybbq2 That’s a really interesting idea. 2042 tried to capture that magic with Portal and came up short, so it’s clear it would be tough to do right.
- @ATFGunr I can't imagine it would be tough, its not like they have to get inspiration from somewhere. Just rework the best old maps (portal did an amazing job reworking the old maps) and impliment the best gameplay mechanics from the newer games (like incoming medic, change scope on the run,...) and build a traditional battlefield game around it with ribbons, medals, weapon unlock etc...
- @cornybbq2 The map part is likely far easier than the mechanics. The Frostbite engine is very different than the previous ones, and in some ways is the reason the game looks both good (pretty), and as bad (contrast between background and soldiers).
All i have learned with this game is never to buy a EA/DICE game on release again.
We were beta/alpha tester's for a year and now it's free on gamepass ultimate.
Any decent weapon skin wise is behind a further paywall everything else been done before.
EA/DICE why not let the season pass work the same as halo infinite?
I know it's a pain for someone to click a few mouse buttons at admin level but surely you can manage that without asking for more £s
