I've been playing 2042 since launch day. I can say that this part is weakest one. I can compare with every previous game of franchise I played:
DISADVATAGES
1). Very small content per season.
Back in the days we had DLCs, basically "season" is DLC, renamed upon modern tendentions. If you look back to BF3, BF4 (which everyone likes for some reason), BF1 or even BFV - there's much more content were coming by new season. Usually 3-4 maps, 1-2 game modes (yes we still stuck with two modes after a year), several vehicles and 4-5 weapons.
Now all we get is 1 map + 1 specialist.
Im sorry DICE but REWORKING old POORLY designed map cant be treated as "new content". Also VAULT weapons are also OLD things you just add to the game.
2). Very easy and short weekly assigments. I literally complete everything is 2-3 rounds, takes me ~1 hour. Upon completing them you rather wait a week for new ones because grinding battlepass rewards by just playing is very slow.
3). No private servers, no game browser (still), no platoons. Join random, play random, repeat. Find a game, your ping is 75+ ? bad luck, search again, probably fortune smiles and you get <60 one. Yes, ping matters, you can feel 60 vs 75 difference. Netcode on >70 ping just go wild and random with hitregs.
4). Poor team balance. Attackers buffed with enormous vehicles, defenders have only recon cabs. Attackers win breakthrough 80% times.
NEUTRAL
1). New specialist system (I know its under rework and will be re-done soon). Its not that bad and not good. Its new concept for BF, like it or not. Basically there's no big impact on playing expierence. If you ask me, yes, lets switch back to class system, but its not a big issue for me to play specialist system.
2). Big, huge maps. Its fine for me tbh, BF was always massive compared to other corridor-shooters. But sometimes it takes too long to reach action.
GOOD
1). Weapons balance. I like it. Moderate recoil, not softball shooting like BF4 and not megarecoil like BF 1. Also I switch weapons depending on map/mode, not "just use M16 all the time" like BF3. Weapons are fine, ofcourse I'd like to have more.
2) Vehicles balance. Just deal with it, its different from BF3-BFV. But it works. no OP vehicles. Even scout helis are easy to take down. Meanwhile if player is really good at it, it can do a lot of impact ingame. Thats good and how should be. Some player skill should always matter.
3) Visuals are amazing, playing with maxed out graphics makes game look really good.
DISASTEROUS
Disasterous changes. Yes, its CROSSPLAY. Crossplay makes people quit, Crossplay is unfair. Crossplay makes hate and profanity grow.
XBOX/PS5 should be matched together, not with PC players. Only 1 out of 10 crossplayers doing action. If Im matched with 3 console dudes in squad I simply quit because its waste of time.
DICE please FACE THE TRUTH about how BAD WAS descision to make PC and consoles play together. I will be tolerant and just say that crossplayers play DIFFERENTLY from PC dudes. Its their way and style, I accept that, but keep them away from PC.
Im pretty sure very small online is because people simply quit when meet crossplay teammates.
Verdict after playing 500+ hours - Not good, not bad, playable.
Is it worth 49.99$ ? For me yes as there's no other games close to battlefield in quality, we just should admit that.
P.S. if moderators find this too harsh, pls remove or censor part of post, dont delete it completely, I spent plenty of time trying to exress. If we talk about tolerance and respect it should apply to everyone.
P.P.S Those guys who make trailers for battlefield should have their salary rised, trailers are always kickass awesome!
