@Trokey66 It depends on how they balance them. When you could see through smoke with them, that was when they were the most broken.
Typically the IRNV scopes aren't ideal. They're small and give a pretty bad picture, if I'm remembering correctly. Not the best scope for most situations.

The whole point of the FLIR and IRNV was to see through smoke. And hard to see targets. It adds more optic and visual options as the gunners for vehicles.
