@CustomerChairThe Class / Kit system is still there, just not as starkly delineated.
The specialty and associated trait are what define the new “classes”. The rest of the customization is either loadout / tactical or cosmetic, which is not that different from previous Battlefield games.
The tried and true names of “Assualt” , “Support” , etc. are gone, yes, however the playstyles associated with those classes can be applied across any specialist now (with some obvious strengths / weakness like Falck being an ideal Medic…)

@carsono311Yeah exactly. They still fall under one of the 4 main classes, but there's now the freedom of choosing whatever Primary, Secondary, Gadget and Throwable - offers way more flexibility and creativity instead of being locked to certain things players may have not liked and felt "forced" to use, which has definitely felt like the case with the usual 4 classes. If Specialsists didn't have their unique skill sets it'd be too casual, just hope all Specialists' unique features that releass are actually useful and not just 1 or 2 of them. Time will tell.Again specialists aren't classes and there loose categorization under a class is irrelevant as any specialist can play how you want them to play. In a game that emphasizes military teamwork and role structure complete build freedom undermines that completely. Dices "empowerment" of players is also a giant middle finger to team play and instead is an embracement of selfish gaming. The entire pitch for this game so far has been very michael bay/cool guys walk away from explosions which battlefield historically has been the more grounded fps which was its biggest selling point. The introduction of one man army like features is not great and my give a care to "wait for gameplay" is wearing dangerously thin. At this point the singular thing keeping any kind of interest for me is hazard zone.
- 4 years ago@WinterbornGuard Never said they were, just pointing out that they're still gonna have a connection to one of the 4 classes. And "military teamwork/role structure/team play" is still gonna be there, just not in the form of 'pick one of 4 classes and that's it' (it's also just a game, so it'll once again result in most players just doing whatever they want, a lack of 4 classes won't stop that).
I've got nothing against the 4 classes, but also fine with the Specialists. I'm just so glad 2042 isn't a straight-out copy-and-paste of BF3 or BF4, which I think so many people were expecting. Would've been so dull. It's not going away so people overreacting about it need to just accept it or don't buy it. At the end of the day it's their loss, not mine.- lzilchetl4 years agoSeasoned Ace
I think i would like to see more about progression, levelling-up, achievements and rewards. I've always used these to work through the guns and gadgets. Hated the timed challenges on bFV, although I was always compelled to complete them but don't like to feel pressured to play. I like having my own plan for my achievements and developing a specialist armoury and checking off achievements, badges and medals on the way.
