Was this the K30 nerf we needed?

The patch made this change

K30

  • Reduced K30 ammo type damage for Subsonic, Standard Issue and High-Power rounds
    • Subsonic, 0-10m - 22 dmg > 18 dmg
    • Subsonic, 30-40m - 18 dmg > 15 dmg
    • Standard Issue, 0-10m - 22 dmg > 18 dmg
    • High-Power, 0-10m - 22 dmg > 18 dmg

But it is a weird change. It impacts the gun on its intended niche of  0-10 while only the subsonic ammo is in anyway affected at longer ranges the ammo that nobody even used as far as I know.

How does it feel for everyone?

For me it gives an opportunity to use this Friends meme. One would think that we are playing a Kids game of "Broken Phone" with DICE.
At least it is good fun 😛

  • There's no reason to use High Power or Subsonic in close range now, since they all deal the same amount of Damage. Standard issue Drum Mag seems to be the only viable option now. High power rounds in general need a rework because they only provide a slightly better TTK in medium range engagements, in close range they have a slower TTK compared to Standard Issue. Here's what I suggest:

    1. Make High power rounds provide a better TTK at all ranges, at the expense of rate of fire being severely reduced and higher recoil to balance out the Damage

    2. Keep the current state of High Power Magazines having lower capacity than Standard Issue and Subsonic.

    3. If Subsonic is going to deal less damage, it needs to be more accurate and have a larger Magazine to compensate.

The In-game stats don't even reflect these changes yet, it still says the K30 deals 40 damage which is not correct.

  • @UP_Hawxxeye Pretty much the perfect meme for most of the changes in the game.

Months of feedback and criticism and complaints about something busted before DICE acts, and half the time their "fix" is either completely unrelated to the problem (like the K30) or only a baby step that would be reasonable if they were making changes more than once a month via patches.

This game doesn't feel "live service" at all, outside of having a cash shop and battle pass. Which isn't even very "live service" since every bloody online game has one of those nowadays.

High power ammo do more damage at range at the expense of fire rate and recoil.

Subsonic ammo removes bullet tracers at the expense of fire rate and recoil.

Theres never been any reason to use these ammo types for close range over standard or close combat ammo on any gun.

@PantleonI’ve only rolled standard on the K30, was 100 short of T1 with this nerf and the 0-10 range should never have been adjusted. It should be a room broom. It should not be an assault rifle (mid range) or a DMR, which it was. Nerfing it’s sole purpose does seem like a 2042 kinda thing to do though, so at least they’re consistent. Love the meme too! Could replace K30 with so many things… sentry gun, tanks, choppers….
  • At what point does any video game become too neutered, numb and thus simply boring after enough items are nerfed, but very few are buffed?  For example, side arms only game mode is cool for a few rounds, but after a short while it would get boring.

Just a thought, as all game devs love to play wack-a-meta with online games, but is that because players are not creative enough to find a better solution, or skilled enough to copy what they dislike losing to at a high level of success?

I have no idea how anyone can ask if the K30 nerf was needed.

I'm asking. What nerf? Its a smg and I still mow down enemies (using assault, dmr, sniper) on ranges up to 150 m with this weapon. Its only bested by bsv (yes even after patch bsv is king).

If the comparison is bsv then I agree with OP. If the comparison is all the other weapons then *insert face palm gif here*
