Well, when using VOIP we could still all use English (OK, maybe all of us except the French 😉 ).
But without some required features it is basically useless to use VOIP:
It first has to be turned on manually
Then it reverts back to Party chat all the time so you have to configure it to Squad chat
Then Squad chat does not help if you want to talk to the guy in the tank that you want to pick you up or to not drive around like crazy because you want to repair her.
And then for Squad chat or Party chat you are most likely using Discord or TeamSpeak anyway, so why bother with the in-game VOIP.
What would be nice would be to have proximity chat that you can talk to eveyone close to your current location. Without having that, there is not much benefit for VOIP AFAIC.

@DuaneDibbleyIn Europe a lot of people are not that good at speaking English, perhaps the younger generations are better, but in some countries, English is not really used much.
Many European countries translate films/tv-shows to their own language (using voice-actors) and you do not have much "contact" with other languages than your own, unless you use the internet (and uses the english/american part of the internet).

Well, I am German and we get everything translated as far as television is concerned. But we (most of us) can still speak English (I for one have to speak English at work all day as half of my colleagues are not from Germany but from many other different countries). This is not true for everyone, but for many or even most gamers I guess this holds true.
You might have to deal with some accents of course, but for the purpose of video game communication, even an average German's English is 'good enough' I'd say. 😉- cso77774 years agoSeasoned Ace@DuaneDibbley I think that in nordic/western European countries English is usable, but in other parts of europe it can be a problem.
Being a tourist in southern Europe can be 'difficult' if you do not speak their native language (just a little at least). - filthy_vegans4 years agoSeasoned Ace
Asking for proximity/context chat is moving the goalposts - Battlefield has never done it, and I can only recall seeing it mentioned one or two times in the period leading up to the April patch.
If no one asks for it, why would DICE develop it.
