Weather Mechanics

    @QuvdReplicnt I have similar concerns.

    I am interested in seeing and interacting with the weather effects in the game, however they cannot become troublesome or annoying.

    By that I mean, if gameplay is negatively impacted (assuming that the weather effects also affect player movement, visibility, weapon performance, etc) to a point where the effect(s) are universally bemoaned instead of appreciated, then they need to go.

    I think keeping them very uncommon or rare would help, but I am willing to stay open-minded on them until we can collectively experience this feature and provide some feedback.

Personally I prefer when the map levolution events are triggered by the players in the game by themselves!

As they should be part of the strategic gameplay.  So as deciding to work towards triggering a certain event, so as to enable fighting back potentially against a superior enemy team that are ahead on the points/tickets.

Aka if the enemy team bulldozed you over in Floodzone map by being superior in the vehicles on that map, then you triggered the flooding to disrupt their vehicle gameplay and force them into the city combat, from building to building, door to door as infantry instead.

Or on Shanghai, if the enemy team dominated because they were rock solid in the skyscraper, and they kept spawning up there and parachuted in to conquer the roof tops and keep taking the flags across the map.  Then you took down the skyscraper and hoped that you would do better despite the irritating dust for the remainder of the game round.

I just don't want to see the tornados or other weather hazards just coming in every single game round and then randomly effect the gameplay, so its a toss up anyway who in the end that will win the game round.

I have a horrible feeling these 'random' weather events may be used as some kind of catch up mechanic. Though that thought is of course without seeing what they actually are, but they are being talked up quite a bit ala the tornado.

    Exactly right @ninjapenquinuk,

    A silly way to potentially level the playing field, to artificially beef up the loosing team side to keep it being a tie to near the end and diminish the result of great teamwork from the winning team side!  

    One could also ask the questions:

    • Do we play battlefield because we want to be engulfed in incontrollable weather havocs?
    • Or do we play Battlefield because we like the FPS gaming?

      @CyberDyme I dont have an issue with weather as such. In fact I like it when it can change up a map a bit. But not to an extent where tornados or such like can be 'randomly' used to create havoc. Sea mist, rain, snow storms etc can all be great if they appear once in a while for varying lengths.

        It could @Trokey66 ,

        And essentially also why several of the previous Battlefield games have had longitudinal relevance and interests for the players to keep coming back.

        Battlefield core should though always be focused on FPS as the priority, while the levolutions and weather mechanics should be the added spice to the dish without dominating it, so to speak.

    @ninjapenquinuk Sigh...I never thought of that and recall how we all revolted against the last time DICE used a catch up mechanic.
