@Sc0tch_Whiskey I feel the decision to cut back support was made shortly after DICE came back from Christmas and New Year holiday break. That's when everyone at DICE started going radio silent and the new leadship began taking control at the studio.
I'm sure the Execs at EA took a look at how quickly the game was bleeding players and instructed DICE to cut back support.

This is why no one ever should pre-order or buy a game when first released. These companies do not care anymore.

I think it is about time they eat crow and stop trying to market Battlefield as live service game with a consmetics-based business model.
Paid cosmetics are nearly worthless in a game with an uncertain future.
Map packs on the other hand...

100% could not have said it better, let's hope they change direction in the future.

"We're all in on BF2042"...LOL
pfffft, that was a short laugh ay? "in" what? incompetent, incomprehensible, incomplete??
I can't understand what's happened to workers in this country where nobody seems to be doing their job or caring about it. It's just all about the cash and getting away with whatever you can.
What ever happened to american pride in your work, being hungry to make something great that everyone will want?
Why walk away from all the hard work now? Because you didn't make a billion on it in 3 days? Because most players left due to you not listening, not doing enough, and not properly communicating, Seriously?
Man-up for heaven's sake and make this game the best damn BF that the world has ever seen...so lose another $100m on it...you're still profiting, and in another year you'll make so much more if you keep it going in the correct direction it needs.
But no, there's no pride, there's no hunger, there's no wanting to build something great any longer...there's only the road with least resistance to profits. Disgusting already, shameful.
Just STOP it, wtfu and get back to work already...do the right thing for everyone, do the right thing for yourselves, your families and this country.

I think they stated even before launch (or maybe right after), that we were gonna get 1 map and specialist per season, with "vault" weapons sprinkled inbetween; it's cool to see they started pre-production on year 2 content though so there is still hope for something else great

Even post launch of BF2042 there were still no clarity from EA/DICE on what really would be placed into the Season packages. Likewise what was the real difference (included/excluded) in the various license versions (Ultimate, Gold, Standard...). And it wasnt because we never asked them. We did. And repeatedly doing so. But yes, we were in good faith and we still went ahead with the purchase. So in that sense, EA/DICE and especially their Marketing department made an outstanding commercial job (if caring only to make a one hit scam and then run away with the money), as we were literally hundreds of thousands of customers paying up front despite no clear description of the product we actually just had paid for.
Though the EA/DICE disclaimer and liability limitations as described in the license conditions took up an alarming large portion of the entire description, which is also classic red flag and should make the alarm bells go off. Hence, we can maybe just blame ourselves for being so naïve and stupid. Commercially, its however not a viable pathway for EA to the riches, so this will obviously bite them back.
So what is their commitment longer term to the BF2042 game?
Based on all (the actually very bare little) we see, then its already clear the shop is closed down already and the larger team moved on long ago.
And you can instead all cheer for the amazing Battlefield game just being launched for mobile devices!
So lets just forget all your hopefuls that just pimped up your PC for some BF2042 gaming and spent all your money on that. Because EA moved on long ago and instead wants you to play their BF game on your Android phone.
Is it a BF2042 game for mobiles?
No. For some reason???? Hahahaha. EA/DICE appear now to embrace the legacy features of what makes a real Battlefield game a battlefield, so you have game modes at launch like:
Conquest, warpath, rush and team death match.
And for the silly BF2042 Specialist?
No. For some reason???? Hahaha. EA/DICE appear now to embrace the legacy features of what makes a real Battlefield game a battlefield game, so you have soldier classes at launch like:
Assault, engineer, support and recon.
And as you rank up, you will unlock weapons, gadgets and specializations that will further focus on those classes.
I wonder where all those amazing concepts suddenly are coming from?
It reminds me somehow of a great game we used to play some versions ago...
And yes, can we please have the same kind of game for all classic platforms like PlayStation, Xbox and PC?
Happy to forget about the terrible disaster named BF2042 and move on!
